Under the supervision of the Sr. Program Director, the Program Director for Hoop Programs administers the programs and policies of the Beaverton Hoop YMCA youth sports programs. The Program Director will work with the Sr. Program Director to oversee program organization and delivery, expand the offerings of the department (program development), select, recruit, and supervise paid coaches & monitors. This position will also work with the Sr. Program Director on budgeting and fiscal management of Hoop programs and will work on growth initiatives to expand program offerings and revenue streams.
The Program Director works with the Sr. Program Director to supervise a staff of 20 – 25 coaches to implement year-round programming. This salaried position has variable hours with work required in both the evenings and weekends. The position also has a small amount of local travel along with a small amount of regional travel.
- Fiscal Management: Assist the Sr. Program Director with annual budget responsibilities. Budget, plan and implement programs according to budget plan. Complete monthly/yearly reports (budget, board, donative effort, statistics, and others) as assigned
- Must be able to conduct and manage large programs within the department’s budget and the branch’s goals
- Staff Management: Hire, train, supervise and evaluate staff and volunteers in assigned program areas. Provide job descriptions, performance standards, training, ongoing supervision and recognition for staff and volunteers, specifically coaches
- Deliver and maintain necessary equipment to facilities for league sports
- Participate and lead summer programming efforts, including all aspects of planning, implementing and supervising large summer camps
- Create new, updated curriculum for basketball camps, along with curriculum for individual, small group and skill specific sport trainings
- Work with the Sr. Program Director to develop and implement marketing, promotion and public relations strategies for assigned programs
- Work in conjunction with Health & Wellness department to incorporate new SAQ training and conditioning principles into Hoop program offerings
- While this position is primarily at the Beaverton Hoop YMCA, travel to multiple program sites in Oregon and Washington will be necessary. There will also be travel requirements for THE PROGRAM teams across the west coast for selected tournaments
- Compiles and adjusts player evaluation forms, completes forms as needed for assigned teams, and conducts parent meetings as needed for player development
- Assigns coaches to teams and helps plan weekend staffing schedules for league games, local tournaments and travel tournaments
- Conduct basketball Group Trainings and Academy sessions as scheduled
- Complete annual reviews for all coaches, conduct consistent coach meetings both before, during and after each season
- Develop cutting-edge program material for practice sessions, camps, academy, etc.
- Recruit new coaches and staff members who can help facilitate program growth
- Attend all leadership staff meetings as assigned
- Work to facilitate participant crossover between Hoop and Westside Youth Sports programs
- Help recruit volunteers for annual support campaign and special events and participate in fundraising tasks for Beaverton Hoop YMCA
- Lead staff team of coaches and provide training opportunities for their growth and development
- Perform other duties as assigned
- Three years’ experience working in a youth sports environment
- Supervisory experience
- Must be a YMCA Multi-Branch Leader (or obtain within two years)
- Minimum of four years’ experience as a youth basketball coach and/or camp director
Preferred Qualifications:
- Six years’ experience as a youth basketball coach and/or camp director

Salary: $40,000.00 - $48,000.00
