Reporting to the CEO, the Executive Director will be responsible for administering the operations of the Camp Bernie YMCA branch.

The Executive Director is responsible for the overall success of the branch and its operating units. This position is primarily concerned with ensuring quality programs and building positive long-term relationships with participants. This branch is viewed as a resource to the total association as it strives to meet its mission and goals. Therefore, successful fulfillment of this position should be measured by:

  • Continued growth of the budget and program enrollment.
  • Increased utilization of volunteers.
  • Increased diversity in program participants/groups and staff that mirror the demographics of the branch service area.
Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Oversees the management of programs, facilities, volunteers, staff development, marketing and financial development for the Camp Bernie branch.
  • Collaborates with community agencies in meeting the needs of its program participants.
  • Develops, manages and monitors the Camp Bernie branch operating budget and meets or exceeds budget targets.
  • In conjunction with the Director of Marking/Communication, develops and implements a marketing strategy and plan for the branch.
  • Ensures that all communications, advertising, brochures, articles of clothing, bulletin boards, are in compliance with the YMCA of the USA corporate brand identity standards.
  • Establishes qualitative and quantitative methods and systems that measure the effectiveness of all marketing communications and ROI.
  • Coordinates the development and management of branch programs to meet the needs of the community and achieves association operating objectives.
  • Ensures outstanding customer service.
  • Implements character development and the values of caring, honesty, respect and responsibility in all programs and all aspects of the branch operations.
  • Directs the Annual Giving campaign with the Development Director and CEO.
  • Directs staff in the development of program enrollment strategies.
  • Coordinates staff and volunteer development, which includes: recruitment, team building, training, evaluations, recognition, terminations, etc.
  • Directs staff leadership of all program departments and supervises Office Manager and Registrar.
  • Develops and maintains collaborative relationships with community agencies in service delivery.
  • Directs all public relations and marketing efforts for all operations of the branch.
  • Prepares statistical, analytical and narrative reports regarding programs and operations of the branch as needed.
  • Coordinates management and maintenance of the facility and equipment.
  • Develops and maintains relationships with current and potential funding sources, both private and public, keeping CEO up-to-date.
  • Implements and tracks Strategic Plan of Camp Bernie with proper reporting.
  • Performs other duties as necessary or assigned by the CEO.
Educational Background: 
BA/BS degree in related field required
Skills/Experience: 
  • Minimum 8 years’ professional work experience or equivalent in a related field required
  • YMCA Senior Director Certification preferred.
  • Strong HR, budgeting, fiscal management, financial development, program management, marketing, volunteer and staff development, committee and board relations, as well as staff supervision required.
  • Must be 21 years or older
  • Managerial experience in a YMCA or other non-profit organization necessary
  • Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community required
  • Mostly works in an office environment, but at times, works in outdoor weather conditions
  • Must be able to ascend/descend stairs and hills
  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position at least 50% of the time
  • Noise level is sometimes loud
  • Operates a computer and other office productivity machinery
  • Must be able to exchange accurate information while frequently communicating with staff, campers and parents.
  • Must be able to work off-hours and weekends
  • Living on campus is a priority for this position and staff housing is provided in a 4 bedroom home
Compensation/Benefits: 

Salary: $65,000.00 - $75,000.00
