The Vice President – Youth Development is accountable for providing strategic leadership and supervision to the Youth Development area of focus for the YMCA. This position serves as part of the YMCA’s strategic leadership/EOS team. The Youth Development area of focus includes: Early Learning, School Age Programs, Summer Day Camp, Swim, Sports, and Youth and Family Programs. This role will oversee the total operation of the Y’s Youth Development programs with a focus on delivering high quality programs for participants, families and community.

The YMCA of the Blue Water Area serves more than 25,000 people a year - 9,000 of those under the age of 18. This position will be responsible for a budget of $1million+ with 13 program delivery sites. 

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Develop and implement plans to continuously raise the standard of quality and consistency of the participant/family experience for youth development programming.
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive staff development program that integrates the Youth Development Companion tools and includes observation, assessment, training recommendations and staff changes where necessary.
  • Develop and nurture school district and community partnerships and relationships that will support the expansion of Youth Development programs.
  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of participation and impact in programs, including creating data-driven action plans, evaluation and feedback. Ensure high quality program delivery that promotes participant growth and retention.
  • Lead overall accountability for program quality, staff performance and family engagement.
  • Leads annual planning and budgeting process for Youth Development. Monitors monthly financial reports to assure that revenue targets are met and expenses are controlled.
  • Provide leadership to ensure/monitor license status and ensure that a plan is in place to achieve an optimal Star Rating.
  • Developing a culture of philanthropy to support Youth Development Programs
Educational Background: 
A bachelor's or master’s degree in child development, education, human services, or equivalent.
Skills/Experience: 
  • A minimum of 5 years successful experience as a supervisor, manager within the YMCA or equivalent experience outside the YMCA.
  • Demonstrated leadership in long-term planning. Ability to think strategically is essential.
  • Strong teamwork and communication skills required.
  • Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community.
  • Ability to understand and implement intentional culture and staff development. Track record of building authentic, constructive relationships with others. Ability to delegate appropriate operational responsibility and ensure accountability.
  • YMCA Multi-Branch/Team Leader certification preferred, attain this certification within 2-3 years of assuming the role.
Compensation/Benefits: 

Salary: $47,476.00 - $62,476.00
