The Associate Director of Donor Relations is responsible for individual giving, intermediate gifts, foundation solicitations, donor cultivation and stewardship, pipeline development for the Chapter with specific emphasis in identified opportunity markets of the Chapter working with the Vice President of Development, Major Gifts Officer, and President and CEO. The Associate Director of Donor Relations will be responsible for the planning and execution of Donor cultivation events including the Reason to Hope, Parlors, and other events for the Chapter territory. This full-time position can be located in either Pittsburgh or Lancaster, PA and will report to the VP of Development.
Major/Intermediate Gifts
- Build and manage a portfolio of Intermediate Gift/Major Donor prospects. In building the portfolio, qualify, cultivate and solicit for gifts in excess of $1,000. This will include a detailed cultivation plan for each donor, strategies for increasing revenue and strategies and benchmarks for upgrading giving levels.
- Establish personal donor contact with an assigned portfolio of donors as well as prospects delivered by Team Approach
- Work with CEO, Vice President of Development and Major Gift Officer to consistently qualify potential major or planned giving prospects to maximize the income from the regions as a whole
- Work with the Vice President of Development and Major Gifts Officer to plan and execute donor receptions across the chapter territory
Foundations
- Identify and Cultivate Foundations in the targeted Chapter territory with VP of Development.
- Meet with Foundation leaders in this territory to educate them on our programs and services.
- Work with Vice President of Development on funding opportunities that may exist throughout the region
- Solicit and secure foundation gifts based on the current needs of chapter
Reason To Hope Events
- Work with Vice President of Development to fully implement approximately 4 Reason to Hope Events across Chapter Territory achieving the financial goals set forth in the annual budget
- Lead and work with table hosts and volunteers to ensure events are successful.
- Identify, cultivate and solicit sponsors to achieve goal.
- Coordinate logistics of the event, including but not limited to, selecting venue, seating and table arrangements, food and beverage, and managing day of event.
- Manage all correspondence with Table Hosts, volunteers and staff to ensure open communication throughout event timeline.
- Coordinate the Table Host Kick-off event approximately 2 months prior to event along with materials for distribution to table hosts.
- Work with Vice President of Development and Marketing & Communications director on all collateral pieces including scripting for speakers
- Work with appropriate staff to determine speakers for each event
- Coordinate follow up thank you calls to Reason to Hope donors and personally call and thank all pledge donors and one-time donors over $250 and following the appropriate moves management for donors $500 .
- 3 years minimum experience in fund development leadership
- Proven major gift experience including identification, cultivation and successful solicitation of individuals and foundations is required
- Experience in grant writing to obtain funding from foundations and corporations
- Experience in identifying additional sources of revenue generation
- Experience in leadership with volunteers at all levels of an organization
- Experience in budget management
- High volume of public contact
- Travel by car to attend meetings within Pennsylvania and by air or car to national meetings
- Evening and weekend hours may be required
- Ability to work effectively with volunteers, staff and external contact to build and maintain successful teams
- Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks
- Ability to anticipate, identify, organize and analyze growth opportunities and expansion of services
- Ability to communicate effectively in person, in writing and electronically to a variety of audiences
