The Vice President of Development is responsible to provide leadership, direction and goal achievement for all income development strategies throughout the 59 Counties of the Greater Pennsylvania Chapter. Responsibilities include major & individual gifts, foundation and corporate relationships, planned giving, "Walk to End Alzheimer's", The Longest Day and all other special event and individual fundraising opportunities. Develop and implement strategic plan and operations efforts in alignment with the national Alzheimer's Association policies. Reports to the President and CEO.
Responsible to establish strategic vision, performance management, measures of accountability, meet or exceed goals, recognition and reward
- Plan, implement and evaluate all fundraising strategies and activities across the chapterWork with each regional office to create, implement and execute a calendar of revenue activities; including Walk to End Alzheimer's, The Longest Day, Reason To Hope, individual donor cultivation, 3rd Party and other events identified by the Chapter.
- Identify corporate and foundation partners to fund the work of The Alzheimer's Association
- Recruit, hire, train, coach development staff to performance
- Lead all development staff, assign revenue goals, monitor, build contingency plans and meet budgetary expense goals
- Ensure that proper data base management for donor records is maintained
Responsible to initiate a Chapter-wide major and individual giving program which includes the identification of individuals for cultivation, solicitation and stewardship;
- Build donor pipeline, cultivate, steward and make personal solicitations
- Initiate and implement regional opportunities for donor stewardship to include Reason to Hope, research events, and individual gifts
- Establish and maintain relations with the philanthropic community
- Solicit family foundations to fund the goals of the Chapter
- Initiate a planned giving program by establishing relationships with trust officers, estate planning and elder law attorneys, and other professionals
Responsible to plan, implement and evaluate all fundraising strategies for the Walk to End Alzheimer's:
- Work with each Event Manager to create goals, recruit volunteer committee chairman and infrastructure, sponsorship, teams, establish timelines and provide problem-solving as needed
- Work with CEO, Board, Event Managers and corporations to identify and secure Chapter Sponsors for Walk
- Provide staff with the necessary tools to implement Walks in their region
- Lead special events staff, coach, monitor, establish benchmarks and timely course correction to meet established revenue and expense goals
Responsible for the development of :
- Chapter Revenue and Expense budgets as it relates to fundraising
- Strategies to meet or exceed budget expectations for revenue
- Communication tools to inform and engage leadership, staff and volunteers on a regular basis of all development efforts
Responsible to provide leadership to volunteers such as Development Committee, Board Members, Walk Committees and other groups throughout the Chapter territory
- Actively support recruitment efforts to secure Committee and Board members
- Actively support recruitment efforts to secure working committee members for event planning committees
- Provide timely responses to the requests of Board and committee members to facilitate their successful work
Responsible to work in collaboration with Chapter Sr. Leadership Team and Regional leadership team members
- Collaboratively build marketing plan for all revenue generation, timeline, budget, implementation, oversight and evaluation
- Collaboratively place large-scale Community Outreach efforts in markets to support constituents, volunteer recruitment and revenue generation
- Participate in Advocacy efforts with local congressional districts, Ambassadors and volunteers
- Collaboratively build volunteer recruitment plan for diverse volunteer pool to support income efforts throughout the year
- Collaboratively work with Financial operations to monitor income, build contingency, provide income projections, reports and use revenue systems
- Provide Regional leadership to meet goals, improve performance, best practices sharing and working across chapters, if needed
Additional responsibilities:
- All staff are required to support and participate in special events income, and program activities as requested
- All staff are expected to informally advocate for those we serve and the services offered by the Chapter
- All staff are expected to support and participate in formal advocacy and public policy activities as requested
- Other duties as assigned
- Seven+ years' experience in development leadership and personnel management
- Proven major gift experience including identification, cultivation and successful solicitation of individuals and foundations is required
- Experience in grant writing to obtain funding from foundations and corporations
- Experience in identifying additional sources of revenue generation
- Experience in leadership with volunteers at all levels of an organization
- Experience in budget management
