Develop and oversee Kindergarten Enrichment program operating in local school district. Deliver and maintain educational excellence for this program.
Areas of Responsibility:
- Develop and deliver a high quality Kindergarten Enrichment program. Ensure quality program delivery and effective use of resources including staff, volunteers and equipment within established budget.
- Review classroom curriculums to ensure child centered age appropriate lessons are offered. Adhere to “learn through play” NAEYC/YMCA philosophy. Ensure that staff take on an active role in planning, implementing and actively participating in all activities.
- Ensure the use of the YMCA and PASD curriculums for Kindergarten: The Creative Curriculum, Math in Focus, “Fun”dations, and Units of Study
- Possess an awareness and knowledge of DHS and DOH regulatory standards regarding licensing, staff/child ratios and program delivery. Have knowledge, awareness and understanding of the Keystone Stars and NAEYC Standards in order for the program to achieve and maintain a STAR 4 designation.
- Assist the building personnel in the daily operations of the program: classrooms, gym, and drop off areas, outdoor facilities, buses, and office.
- Lead by example at all times. Interact with a high level of professionalism and accountability.
- Maintain a Professional Development Record and assume personal responsibility for meeting requirements of professional development as determined by PDE/STARS/NAEYC/YMCA/DHS/PASD
- Participate in a Teacher Induction Plan to achieve Level II PA Teacher Certification
- Collaborate with district personnel and coordinate and administer all aspects of program registration, promotion, open houses, and communications. Assure communication and information is clear for all participants.
- Be responsible for documentation to include rosters, status of registration, statistics, and newsletters.
- Supervise classroom staff to ensure that they are upholding all YMCA/STARS/NAEYC/PASD guidelines for proper verbal interaction, proper learn through play techniques and age appropriate redirection as a form of discipline.
- Responsible for hiring, training, coaching, and performance improvement, if necessary, to all staff.
- Collaborate with PAELC Administration with regard to Educator meetings and necessary trainings to keep staff informed and to keep certifications current. Ensure staff attend hosted in-service days.
- Create staff schedules, monitor time worked, complete payroll, and be accountable for departmental budget relating to staff salaries.
Educational Background:
Bachelor Degree in Early Childhood Education preferred, PA ECE Teacher Certification, Level II preferred, with 3 years in a supervisory role.
Skills/Experience:
- Experience in staff supervision, committees and in providing leadership to groups.
- Ability to operate a PC, use spreadsheets, word processing and related software.
- Ability to recruit and motivate staff.
Compensation/Benefits:
Salary: $30,300.00 - $40,100.00
