Teach For America – Phoenix seeks a Manager of Alumni Network to strengthen the leadership, connectedness and impact of our 1000+ strong alumni community in Arizona towards educational equity.
The Manager, Alumni Network will help harness the power of our network by continuously engaging our alumni base, utilizing their experiences and expertise, and establish meaningful opportunities for our alumni to connect and collaborate. The Manager will work in partnership with the Director, Alumni Network to help execute on the vision and strategy for the alumni experience in Arizona that focuses on three main priorities: 1) deepen connectivity in our network, 2) create spaces for the network to learn, innovate, and take action together, and 3) promote career and leadership pathways that have the greatest potential for impact on educational equity in Arizona
The ideal candidate will be someone who is energized by establishing strong relationships across the community, making connections between community stakeholders, and empowering others to work together towards a common goal. This will be one of the most external-facing roles on our team and it is essential that the candidate sees themselves as a constant, professional steward of Teach For America’s work and theory of change.
The Manager, Alumni Network will report directly to the Director, Alumni Network, and be a part of the broader Program Continuum regional functional team.
Enable diverse alumni to take on leadership positions across the Phoenix landscape (30%)
- Identify local, national and international professional development and leadership opportunities for prioritized alumni pipelines – teacher leadership, school leadership, systems leadership and social entrepreneurship
- Work with external organizations to identify connections between their mission and ours, and create leadership pipelines within their organizations for TFA Alumni
- Cultivate diverse local alumni to apply to various leadership opportunities
- Meet with a subset of alumni to understand their leadership pathways and connect them with opportunities
Develop spaces for alumni to connect, learn and innovate, alongside our leadership boards (30%)
- Galvanize alumni on leadership boards to lead spaces for other alumni
- Contribute to the design and planning of our 25th anniversary summit in the Fall of 2019
- Directly design and lead and small set of spaces for alumni to connect, share and innovate
Enable collection of alumni data (20%)
- Lead the strategy to ensure that a large percentage of alumni complete our survey, which gives us up-to-date information about alumni
- Track and update information about our alumni
- Create and maintain a data base of school-based alumni to connect them with opportunities, CMs and other alumni
Regional and Organizational Stewardship (20%)
- Attend and participate in functional team meetings, all staff meetings, and committees
- Participate in matriculation and selection commitments
- Attend and participate in corps member professional development sessions
- Act as a positive and inclusive team-wide culture leader
- 4 – 6 years professional experience
- Experience building senior level external relationships
- Teach For America alum strongly preferred
- Community organizing experience preferred
Work Demands
- Some weekend and evening work required
- Ability to travel and work in the regional Teach For America office on a daily basis
- Ability to travel to in-person meetings across the city and state
- Ability to thrive in an entrepreneurial, goal-oriented and fast-paced environment
- Ability to prioritize and juggle multiple projects in a deadline-driven environment
