The Events Manager is responsible for providing a broad range of resources related to meetings management and/or special events that support Development and other functional areas. The Events Manager will work towards meeting the strategic priorities of the Arizona program by developing and coordinating tactics for approved plans, and completing and/or overseeing day-to-day tasks.

The Events Manager is responsible for providing a broad range of resources related to meetings management and/or special events that support Development and other functional areas. The Events Manager will work towards meeting the strategic priorities of the Arizona program by developing and coordinating tactics for approved plans, and completing and/or overseeing day-to-day tasks. May manage logistics for meetings and/or special events, evaluating potential vendors and processing payments as required. The Events Manager provides guidance in satisfying requirements based on extensive knowledge of policies and procedures. Will manage guidelines and analyze factual information to achieve results, improve workflow, and solve problems. Will provide advice, recommendations, and training related to development and other departmental events. The Events Manager must be an expert in the systems and resources utilized by the team; applies knowledge to managing support and designing communications related to the resources. Will develop documentation, modify processes, and participate in the enhancement of systems and tools used by the team. The Events Manager may work in close cooperation with any or all of the following: Conservancy staff, donors, trustees, vendors, public agencies, youth and/or business relations. Will report to leadership on activities. This role reports directly to the Strategic Communications & Marketing Director. The Events Manager will keep up-to-date on market trends and best practices in order to improve services. Will manage diverse tasks, analyze situations, evaluate alternatives, project outcomes, and implement solutions in order to improve effectiveness.

RESPONSIBILITIES & SCOPE

  • Accountability for supporting strategic goals related to development and other departmental/organizational events.
  • Act independently and in supervisor’s stead as needed, exercise independent judgment to identify and solve problems.
  • Decisions may bind the organization financially or legally.
  • Demonstrate sensitivity in handling confidential information.
  • Develop and implement new initiatives that will ensure department and organization-wide goals and strategies are achieved.
  • Ensure programmatic commitments, TNC policies and procedures, financial standards, and legal requirements are met and managed for compliance.
  • Financial responsibility includes assisting with the development of budgets, working within a budget, and negotiating and contracting with vendors. 
  • Manage and implement multiple projects, including managing budget, setting deadlines and ensuring accountability.
  • May manage or participate in complex negotiations, both internally and externally.
  • May supervise one or more administrative or professional staff, responsibility includes training and professional development.
  • Travel frequently, work long and flexible hours as needed.
  • Work environment involves only infrequent exposure to disagreeable elements and minor physical exertion and/or strain.
  • Work is diversified and may not always fall under established practices and guidelines.
  • BBCRM data entry for leads and conversations.
Educational Background: 
Bachelor’s degree and five (5) years related experience or equivalent combination.
Skills/Experience: 
  • Experience managing and implementing multiple projects.
  • Experience negotiating agreements.
  • Experience supervising staff, interns, and/or volunteers.
  • Experience with current technology in relevant field.
  • Experience working with cross-functional teams.
  • Experience, coursework, or other training in principles and practices of relevant field.
  • Must possess valid driver license.

  • Multi-cultural or cross-cultural experience appreciated.
  • Ability to work in partnership with others in a collaborative role.

  • Knowledge of current and evolving trends in the specific field, preferably in a non-profit environment.
  • Proficient in interpreting guidelines and manipulating, analyzing, and interpreting data.
  • Strong organization, planning, collaboration and problem-solving skills.
  • Successful experience implementing strategic program goals.
Compensation/Benefits: 

Preferred hiring range is $60,000-$65,000/year.
