This position supports the work of the Southwest Family YMCA, a leading nonprofit committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. This position leads program operations at the Y that may include (but not limited to) Aquatics, Sports, Childcare, Volunteer Development, and Healthy Living.

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Develops and directs high quality member engagement strategies and programs which support branch and Association goals, and strategies. Assists the Executive Director with branch marketing plan including social media.
  • Recruits, hires, trains, develops and directs employees and volunteers. Reviews and evaluates staff performance. Develops strategies to motivate staff and achieve goals.
  • Develops, manages, and monitors assigned operating budgets to meet or exceed targets. Recommends adjustments to the budget to assure a balanced operation and submits reports on current operations.
  • Direct leadership of full time employees and part time branch staff. Full time positions may include; Aquatic Director, Sports Director, Youth and Family Director, and Healthy Living Director and leading Aquatic Team.
  • In partnership with their supervisor, creates a volunteer/intern program for community members to volunteer time in all programs in the facility.
  • Establishes plans for the expansion of programs and services, in harmony with overall YMCA objectives and the leadership team.
  • Represents and promotes the YMCA in the local community and develops positive working relationships with other organizations, businesses, and governmental entities. Develops and maintains collaborative relationships with community agencies in service delivery area.
  • Provides staff support for assigned committees.  Provides staff leadership for annual support campaign.
  • Creates a program quality that will dazzle and delight all participants.
  • Serves as a participating member of the aquatic cabinet meetings, and other cabinets as deemed necessary.
  • Assists with Annual Campaign efforts, direct leadership of the staff campaign and My Y week.
  • Develop, build, and grow the swim team recreational and competitive, and associated swim meets.
  • May ensure the maintenance of facilities and properties of the branch to assure high standards of maintenance, safety, cleanliness and to assure that the requirements of regulatory codes are fully met.
  • Serves as a member of YMCA management and supports the overall objectives of 
  • the YMCA.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Educational Background: 
Bachelor's degree in human services, recreation, business or a related field, or equivalent, preferred.
Skills/Experience: 
  • Five or more years of management experience, preferably in a YMCA or other nonprofit agency.
  • Strong aquatic background with demonstrated ability to grow swim lessons, swim team.  Experience with Safety Around Water programs preferred.
  • Must obtain necessary certifications to train swim instructors and lifeguards, as well as lead in-service trainings.
  • Ability to direct assigned operations including volunteer development, supervision 
  • of staff, development and monitoring of budgets, marketing and public relations, 
  • and program development.
  • Prefer knowledge of, and previous experience with, diverse populations
  • Ability to establish and maintain collaborations with community organizations.
  • YMCA Team Leader or Multi-Team/Branch Leader certification preferred.
Compensation/Benefits: 

Salary: $59,173.89 - $73,967.36
