The Manager, Corporations & Foundations will help drive our campaign to raise $13 million by 2020. The Manager, Corporate & Foundation Relations will work closely with the Managing Director of Development (MDD) and Executive Director (ED) to set and execute high level corporate and foundation giving strategies. They will be responsible for creating and executing an operational plan in order to meet fundraising goals; developing strategies and cultivation plans for a portfolio of donors and prospects; and managing up to the ED and MDD to cultivate, solicit and steward donors.

To be successful, the applicant must be a critical thinker with a keen understanding of what motivates others; display sound judgment in prioritizing actions based on outcomes; and be able to get results through others. This individual must be a strong writer with a high bar for quality, organization, and must be detail-oriented. The Manager, Corporate and Foundation Relations will report directly to the Managing Director of Development on the Phoenix regional team.

Areas of Responsibility: 

Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
Manage Portfolio of Corporate and Foundation Donors (15%)

  • Create, identify, and leverage compelling opportunities for current and prospective donors to engage with our program
  • Prioritize key actions for the ED and/or MDD to take in cultivating, soliciting and stewarding donors through external meetings, events and correspondence and preparing/supporting them to execute
  • Prepare ED and/or MDD for external meetings through prospect research and meeting prep design
  • Create and maintain the operational systems required to manage a high volume of donor cultivation, stewardship and research to ensure efficiency and effectiveness and specifically to ensure alignment with all corporate and foundation grant guidelines

Manage Events, including the annual Celebration Dinner (30%)

  • Design and execute the event theme and all logistic needs
  • Manage the solicitation of ticket sales, table sales, and sponsorships
  • Serve as the event lead and primary contact for all Celebration Dinner event needs

High-level Grant Writing and Communications (40%)

  • Write high-quality written communications for corporate and foundation funders at all stages of the development process including letters of intent, proposals, mid-year and final reports; all of which accurately and compellingly convey our national and regional 2020 vision and plan
  • Manage the deadline-driven calendar of all development writing projects related to corporations and foundations, including: researching and logging grant and reporting guidelines and due dates, submitting materials on time, and following up as necessary
  • Collaborate with various regional functional teams (finance, teacher leadership development, alumni, public partnerships, etc.) to compile, analyze, package and communicate data and information in a way that motivates and stewards corporate and foundation donors and donor prospects
  • Oversee the Associate of Development in writing and compiling small grant requests and reports

Strategy, Research and Data Management (10%)

  • Analyze historical and market data to support the ED and MDD in setting revenue, donor quantity and retention goals and setting interim benchmarks
  • Conduct background research and analysis on the corporate and foundation landscape to identify additional opportunities for funding
  • Create and manage clear trackers to show progress towards benchmark and weekly progress to goal

Additional duties as required in order to meet goals and adapt to the consistently changing donor landscape and regional growth and responsibilities (5%)

Educational Background: 
Bachelor's Degree
Skills/Experience: 

Prior Experience

  • 3 -5 years of work experience preferred
  • Experience with fundraising and annual campaigns strongly preferred
  • Experience with Salesforce or similar CRM-software preferred

Work Demands

  • Some weekend and evening work required
  • Ability to travel to in-person meetings across the city and state

Salary for this position is competitive and depends on prior experience. In addition, a comprehensive benefits package is included.
