Contributes to the achievement of strategic priorities by providing technical support for state and community operations and by providing technical assistance to staff and volunteers. Manages projects, creates project-related materials, and determines resources necessary to complete projects. Makes presentations, keeps records, prepares reports, and drafts technical correspondence. May perform a combination of the following duties described below depending upon assignment.
Areas of Responsibility:
- Supports several Associate State Directors on effective strategies for all activities and events, including special events such as forums, news conferences and volunteer engagement meetings.
- Works directly with volunteers and staff to ensure implementation of AARP activities in the state. May assist, as appropriate, with information center activities, including coordination of education activities and the delivery of volunteer recruitment and training.
- Conducts online searches, gathers information, analyzes data and compiles reports on AARP media coverage, both paid and earned.
- Coordinates requests for speakers and manages community events calendar. Helps manage event calendar on our website via event management tool.
- Creates flyers, direct mail, training materials and other resource materials to support AARP activities, including events aimed at volunteer engagement.
- Ensure that all current engagement events and member offerings are listed on the AARP PA state webpage in a timely and consistent manner.
- Assists with volunteer management which includes but is not limited to the intake of new volunteers, orientation, expenses and volunteer needs.
- Helps manage fulfillment requests and maintains the storage of AARP publications, materials and banners.
- Assists the engagement staff on the marketing, outreach and logistics for events and sponsorship
- Demonstrates AARP Leadership behaviors in all interactions.
Educational Background:
Completion of a Bachelor’s degree required in a related discipline
Skills/Experience:
- Identify desired education requirements or acceptable equivalency. Describe suggested years of service and type of work experience. Include required proficiencies with specialized knowledge, computer proficiencies, required licenses or certifications and/or multi-lingual abilities. Identify competencies needed to be successful in this position.
- 3-5 years of experience in project development, coordination, and implementation techniques; or an equivalent combination of training and experience related to the duties of the position. Bilingual skills may be a requirement for specific assignments based on the needs of the membership segment supported.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively both written and orally.
- Demonstrated ability to work well with others, lead project teams, task forces, and to collaborate with and forge effective internal and external partnerships across groups and departments, connecting with and exhibiting a solid understanding of partnerships.
- Ability to prioritize work load assignments and multi-task in a fast paced environment.
- Must be able to work nights and weekends for events, variable schedule(s) as necessary.
- Proficient with computer software programs including Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Work, Powerpoint, Excel) Cvent and Teradata.
- Travel will be required
