Responsibilities

What You Will Get to Do:

As a Community Outreach Intern at AARP, you will be challenged to handle a variety of responsibilities from event planning to organizing volunteers and interacting with our members.  You could also be working with community organizations and local government. You will be assigned critical tasks and get to see your work in action. You will get to:

  • Create a variety of communications for the office including: presentations, legislative briefings, and  volunteer outreach messages
  • Plan advocacy, volunteer and member events, including event logistics and promotion
  • Use your creative ideas, communication skills and social media expertise to improve AARP’s reach in the community
  • Plan event logistics and schedules
  • Support events as a member of the on-site event team, which could include opportunities to travel and some evening and weekend work
  • Develop, conduct and analyze post-event evaluations

Requirements

You Could Be Our Next Intern if You:

  • Are enrolled in an accredited college or university and have completed 2 full years of coursework prior to the start of the internship
  • Have a minimum GPA of 3.0
  • Are proficient with Microsoft Office applications and social media
  • Exhibit strong organizational and multi-tasking skills
  • Strong communication skills both verbal and written
