Responsibilities

What You Will Get to Do:

 

As a Communications Intern at AARP, you will have the opportunity to join our team of professionals working on major campaigns, to engage our 38 million members and potential members.  You will be assigned critical tasks and get to see your work in action.  As an AARP  Communications intern you will:

 

  • Provide communications support for national and local advocacy campaigns, and community outreach initiatives.   
  • Communicate with media and the general public, using traditional media platforms and digital media channels.
  • Create content for state office webpage, social media sites, e-newsletters
  • Prepare and distribute news releases
  • Communicate with state volunteers  through Customer Relationship Management software

 


Requirements

You Could Be Our Next Intern if You:

 

  • Are enrolled in an accredited college or university and have completed 2 full years of coursework prior to the start of the internship
  • Have a minimum GPA of 3.0
  • Are proficient with Microsoft Office applications and social media
  • Exhibit strong organizational and multi-tasking skills
  • Strong communication skills both verbal and written
