Under the direction of the Senior Wellness Director, and in accordance with Association policies, the Fitness/Sports Director is responsible for the leadership and advancement of the strategies for the Branch’s Fitness and Sports Departments. This position will oversee the development and implementation of innovative curriculum and activities, supervise, guide and develop staff to ensure that participant’s development occurs in a fun, healthy and safe environment, and ensure program outcomes are consistently achieved.

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Ensures that daily care of members, teens and families is a key priority through supervisor of staff and volunteers in accordance with the organization’s policies, mission and applicable laws.
  • Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring and training employees, planning, assigning and directing work, appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
  • Lead all Sports and Group Exercise programs by providing direction, leadership, support, and efficiencies for team members through strategic planning, administrative standardization, registration, quality standards, and risk management.
  • Lead Program activities, external programs, staffing and follow annual standards that achieve outcomes, which are reviewed and verified through audits, surveys and follow-up.
  • Collaborates with Branch Leadership and staff to ensure excellence and consistency in service through daily care of members, program participants and volunteers.
  • Champion program curriculums, development, staffing and set annual standards that achieve programmatic outcomes and are reviewed and verified through audits, surveys, and on-site visits.
  • Serve as a staff liaison to the Executive Director concerning their branch’s Fitness and Sports Departments programs and trainings.
  • Act as a mentor to the Sports and Fitness Departments staff teams. Ensures staff are trained and prepared to achieve the desired program outcomes.
  • Responsible for strict adherence to and annually reviews all Sports and Fitness Departments program policies and procedures related to safety and conduct rules and other regulations; current CPR, First Aid, First Responder training.
  • Role Model strong fiscal stewardship through the development and monitoring of budgets and forecasting.
  • Requires flexible hours to work evenings and weekends.
  • Any other duties as assigned by the Senior Wellness Director.
Educational Background: 
A Bachelor's degree, or equivalent education/experience would be preferred but not necessary. 
Skills/Experience: 
  • The Sports/Fitness Director must possess 3 – 5 years’ experience in group exercise program development and management as well as personal training and fitness center management.
  • A background in the management and teaching of various sports programs is also a must. 
  • He/she should have a positive history of leadership in the areas of staff, program development, fiscal budgeting and management, and operational procedures. 
  • Proven ability to display initiative, good judgment and ability to make decisions independently is required. 
  • Able to demonstrate written and verbal communication skills; public speaking, capacity to prepare reports, conduct training programs, create policies and guidelines, proven financial development experience and skills. 
  • Will possess competent computer skills in the Windows environment as well as ThinSoft Programs.
Compensation/Benefits: 

Salary: $30,000.00 - $35,000.00
