The Senior Program Director plans, organizes and delivers quality aquatics, youth and family programs to the membership, program participants, and community. The scope of this work will occur across locations, have varied hours, and include multiple support staff.  Responsible for program development and fiscal responsibility, as well as be an integral team player for the Bear Levin Studer Family YMCA.  Development of a program portfolio that helps support member retention will be critical for success.

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • The Director will be a cause-driven leader and champion the YMCA mission and initiatives.
  •  Directly supervises 1 FT Exempt employee, 1 FT Aquatic Coordinator, 1 PT KidZone Coordinator, and 2 FT Seasonal Aquatic Managers.
  • Directs Reach and Rise Program and annual Corporate Cup Games for the Association.
  • Branch leader for Healthy Kids Day, Child Abuse and Prevention education, and volunteer requests.
  • Fosters a climate of proactive innovation by working closely with other Directors to ensure open communication and effective program delivery to members and participants.
  • Establishes new program activities and expands programs based on community needs.
  • Fulfills front line roles as required or scheduled.
  • Completes annual evaluations for all staff supervised, providing training and performance improvement plans as needed.
  • Performs other duties or special projects as assigned.
Educational Background: 
Bachelor's degree from a four-year College or University in recreation management, sports management, physical education, or related field.
Skills/Experience: 
  • Five years related experience. 

Required Certifications

  • CPR, AED or BLS, and Basic First Aid and Emergency Oxygen. 
  • Current YMCA Lifeguard or equivalent.
  • Current YMCA swim lesson instructor certification.
  • Development of training plan to attain trainer status in Aquatics within YUSA within 1 year from date of hire.
  • CPO certification preferred.
  • Team Leader Certification preferred.
Compensation/Benefits: 

Salary: $40,000.00 - $42,000.00
