The YMCA of Metro North has an exciting opportunity to join our leadership team as a Health & Wellness Coordinator in Peabody, MA!!

This position is primarily responsible for coordinating the staff that will engage with members in group exercise, through related activities, programs and events. The Health & Wellness Coordinator works closely with the Health & Wellness Director to ensure prompt customer service and strong member engagement are carried out with consistency. This position includes modeling professional behaviors and direct member service including teaching group exercise classes.

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Programs are in place and operating at the highest quality level for the various service area target markets.
  • Provides Direct Service in Teaching Group Exercises Classes
  • Creates group exercise schedule and manages coverage for all classes
  • Direct and influence staff on best practices and protocols.
  • Lead staff in their own professional growth and foster a team atmosphere
  • Designs and implements (4) quarterly group fitness kickoffs per year.
  • Assists with special events planning and delivery, including but not limited to Golf tournament, Healthy Kids Day, and other Health & Wellness events.
  • Assists the Membership Team with Member Engagement and Onboarding.
  • Helps to develop and maintain community and corporate wellness relationships.
  • Attends and participates in YMCA Metro North training.
  • Participates in health and wellness staff meetings.
  • Assists in branch fundraising efforts as requested.
  • Presents a professional image and manner consistent with the YMCA mission and goals.
  • Remains current in required and voluntary trainings
Skills/Experience: 
  • At least two years’ experience in instructing related programs.
  • Experience in health and wellness programming.
  • Background in internal marketing/special events.
  • Current Group Exercise Certification
  • CPR/AED and First Aid certifications

SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES/KNOW-HOW:

  • Understand the relationship of the general public to the association, of staff to volunteer, and of staff to staff, and be able to effectively enhance and cultivate those relationships.
  • Ability to interpret and implement into programs, the mission and goals of the YMCA.
  • Ability to supervise staff and volunteers while actively handling a variety of functions at the same time.
  • Work as an integral member of a staff team.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with adults, youth, teens, seniors and special populations.
  • Computer literate.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS/ENVIRONMENT:

  • Ability to physically and verbally interact with members and staff.
  • At times, be able to lift amounts up to 50 lbs.
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
  • Ability to be flexible to work evenings, early mornings, weekends and holidays.
Compensation/Benefits: 

Salary: $41,000.00 - $45,000.00
