LPI seeks two full-time senior staff members to join its team of research, policy, and communication staff in advancing the organization’s efforts in the areas of resource equity and school finance, especially in ensuring equitable access to high-quality educational options for all students. The positions have the option to be based in either the Palo Alto, CA, office or the Washington, DC, office. Educational Background: 
Advanced degree preferred
Skills/Experience: 
  • Advanced degree preferred.
  • At least 10 years professional experience (policy, legislative, government, and/or nonprofit).
  • Prior experience in developing and advancing legislative, executive, or educational advocacy and policy, and the demonstrated ability to effectively conduct, analyze, synthesize, translate, and communicate education research to policymakers, including developing and providing technical assistance on education policy development.
  • Exceptional writing and oral communication skills.
  • Well-established relationships with key individuals in government and/or at LPI’s partner organizations as related to content areas of expertise.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in collecting, synthesizing, and evaluating information to support policymakers and policy influencers in using research to develop policy—often in time-sensitive situations.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage and coordinate several projects simultaneously, support team members, and track complex tasks across multiple stakeholders.
  • Prior experience serving as a lead on team-based projects or supervisorial experience, and a commitment to supporting the learning of other team members.
  • Demonstrated ability to plan effectively and the flexibility to handle the unexpected.
