The Lake County YMCA is seeking a Program Director at the Outdoor Y in Perry. The ideal candidate has strong experience in Aquatics, as well as sports or teams. Oversees the development and operations of various programs, such as aquatics, sports, team building, and other programs. This is a full-time, exempt position. Areas of Responsibility:
- Directs and supervises program activities to meet the needs of the community and fulfill YMCA objectives (see detailed list below).
- Recruits, hires, trains, develops, schedules and directs personnel and volunteers as needed. Reviews and evaluates staff performance. Develops strategies to motivate staff and achieve goals.
- Establishes new program activities and expands program within the community in accordance with strategic and operating plans.
- Assists in the marketing and distribution of program information, may organize and schedule program registrations. May review and process program scholarship applications.
- Works with director of program development to develop innovate programs, identify possible program-related grants, improve quality, and ensure consistency across the association.
- Develops and maintains collaborative relationships with community organizations.
- Develops and monitors program budget to meet fiscal objectives.
- Coordinates use of facilities for program activities and events.
- Assists in YMCA fund raising activities and special events.
- Models relationship-building skills (including Listen First) in all interactions. Responds to all member and community inquiries and complaints in timely manner.
- Assists with Program Committee meetings.
- Compiles program statistics. Monitors and evaluates the effectiveness of and participation in program.
Educational Background:
Bachelor's degree in related field preferred or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Skills/Experience:
- One to two years related experience, preferably in a YMCA or other nonprofit agency. Proven experience in Aquatics required.
- Ability to direct programs through supervision of volunteers and staff, development and monitoring of budgets, marketing and public relations, program development and fundraising.
- Prefer knowledge of, and previous experience with, diverse populations. Proven track record of developing authentic and deepened relationships with others.
- Ability to establish and maintain collaborations with community organizations.
- CPR and First Aid certifications preferred.
Compensation/Benefits:
Salary: $32,000.00 - $35,000.00
