Between child care and preschool programs the Y is serving over 300 children daily and partners with numerous community organizations.

The Mahaska County YMCA has an exciting opportunity for an energetic, mission-driven Director of our Child Care Department. The Child Care Director will be responsible for quality infant through four-year-old child care and three and four-year-old preschool, before & after school program, Summer Day Camp, and Child Watch.

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Must be an orgnaized, energetic, and out-going self-starter who is able to multi-task and lead teams successfully. 
  • Must have a positive attitude and be able to build strong collaborative relationships.
  • Must submit to background check and motor vehicle check. 
  • Previous experience working with children in a developmental setting is preferred.
  • Must have the ability to plan, organize, and implement developmentally appropriate program activities. 
Skills/Experience: 
  • 18 years of age or older.
  • Bachelor's Degree from four-year college or university in early childhoold or related field.
  • The ability to successfully oversee approximately 60 staff, with support from the Executive Director.
