The Health and Wellness Director will provide direction, leadership and oversight to various Health and Wellness programs and the Wellness Center. This position will have a strong emphasis in personal training, athletic performance, new member orientation, member wellness initiatives and supervision of the Wellness Center. Other areas of involvement may include chronic disease programs; assist in teaching group exercise and corporate wellness. The Director will be accountable for the development and implementation of a strong personal training program, health and wellness center programs, member wellness retention programs, staff supervision and development, fiscal management, department annual campaign and facilities management.
- Create, develop and manage health and wellness programs and facilities that meet the needs of our members and the goals of the organization.
- Help manage a comprehensive personal training program that meets the need of members and the community.
- Develop, monitor and control the department budget.
- Hire, train and supervise health and wellness staff.
- Assist in hiring, training and supervising Personal Trainers.
- Create a positive work environment.
- Work directly with members to meet their health and wellness goals.
- Coordinate and schedule maintenance, repair and annual purchase of equipment for branch.
- Develop and maintain effective relationships with staff, volunteers, members and the community in order to help foster the goals and mission of the organization.
- Work with and support organization wide wellness staff.
- Demonstrates the inclusion of the Y mission, values and safety into
- Bachelor’s degree in exercise science, physiology, health and wellness, physical education or related field.
- Ability to attain ACSM, ACE, NETA or equivalent……certification a must.
- Three years’ experience in the health and wellness field.
- Experience in the development and management of health and wellness programs, fiscal management, wellness initiatives and staff supervision.
- Proven track record of developing programs with increasing participation.
- Proven track record of building relationships with staff, members and volunteers.
- A track record of solid budget performance.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to make independent sound decisions and problem solve.
- Possess excellent planning and organizational skills.
- Ability to work with other organization fitness professionals in multiple facilities.
