The YMCA of Central Florida has an exciting opportunity for a dynamic and cause-driven senior leader as the District Vice President to direct and oversee operations for multiple YMCA Family Center locations. Reporting directly to the Chief Operating Officer, this individual must have a broad set of critical and complex operational responsibilities, and the ability to have wide-spread community impact. The incumbent must have proven related experience managing an operating budget in excess of $10 million, combined with overseeing at least four YMCA locations or related health/wellness facilities. S/he must be a team motivator with the ability to create an environment that delivers world-class programming, growing membership acquisition and retention. 

Our corporate office is centrally located near Downtown Orlando, Florida. Nearby are many world-class attractions, well-known theme parks, diverse dining and shopping options, museums, and an international airport. Events and entertainment are regularly held at the state of the art Amway Center and Dr. Phillips Performing Art Center. For the sports enthusiasts, Orlando is home to national sport teams, Orlando Magic and Orlando City Soccer. Nicknamed “The City Beautiful” Orlando offers many public lakes, walkable communities, pleasant year-round weather and it’s a short 45 minute drive to Cocoa and Daytona Beaches. There are many “A” rated public and private school options in Orange County.  Central Florida also has a variety of affordable housing options and there is no state income tax.

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Candidates will be challenged to provide a successful track record in comparable fiscal management including the growth of revenue dollars and the execution of innovative programming in the areas of wellness, sports and aquatics; resulting in a greater impact to our members.
  • S/he must be a leader in the community; attending social events and representing the Y and its core mission and cause.
  • The incumbent is responsible for recruiting key community leaders and board members; creating and implementing a well-conceived development/fund raising plan to achieve short term and long term objectives, and will lead the initiative by marshaling the resources of the board, soliciting private donations and high level donors, plus cultivating relationships and building rapport with key partnerships.
  • S/he will expand the capacity of operational performance to educate and better serve the community by engaging individuals in the Y’s three areas of focus: healthy living, social responsibility and youth development.  
Educational Background: 
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent required; management, operations management, sport business management or related field of study preferred. Master’s degree a plus.
Skills/Experience: 
  • Minimum 7-10 years of progressively responsible experience in senior management operations in membership, health and wellness required. 
  • YMCA leadership experience overseeing multiple full-service locations. 
  • Minimum 7 years of progressively responsible experience with fiscal management, membership growth and retention, fundraising including annual giving, program management, community relationship building, and facility care required.
  • Proven experience managing, recruiting and working with volunteer boards and community leadership / committees required. 
  • Must have proven related experience leading operations of comparable membership revenue; with positive trends year over year in membership acquisition and retention.    
  • Proven experience implementing innovative solutions for improving payroll management; resulting in a positive impact to the bottom line.
  • Proven success in staff selection, coaching and development. 
  • Prior experience overseeing successful capital campaign plans of $2.5M - $5M, preferred. 
  • Microsoft Office proficiency required; Oracle, Technogym or Salesforce experience a plus.
