The Volusia Flagler Family YMCA is seeking a proven staff leader; with combined hands-on technical skills in building and grounds maintenance to join our corporate office management team in Deland, Florida as the District Facility Director. The corporate office is located approximately 34 miles north of the central business district of Orlando and 23 miles west of renowned Daytona Beach. The Y is a cause-driven organization and is committed to improving the lives of all in Central Florida.
The incumbent will report directly to the Chief Operating Officer, with a dotted line accountability to the President and CEO. S/he provides leadership to a staff team and is responsible for building and grounds maintenance of six YMCA facilities and one 55 acre resident camp. Six of these facilities have pools; three are year-round and three are seasonal. Prior related management and supervisory experience in the hospitality field, health club or related environment is highly preferred. This individual will manage day to day facility and property maintenance, including planning and risk management. S/he will develop a first class housekeeping/custodial schedule to ensure maximum comfort and cleanliness of YMCA locations at all times, as well develop and follow a preventative maintenance schedule. The incumbent must be "hands on" and able to perform basic to complex maintenance duties to ensure the building equipment and property are in good operating condition, including conducting minor electrical and plumbing repairs, HVAC repairs, equipment repairs and painting.
This individual will be responsible for contracting with company approved outside vendors to perform major repairs as needed, and ensures applicable licensure is accurate. S/he must have excellent interpersonal and communication skills to provide a high level customer service experience; with the ability to interact with all levels of staff, leadership, members, volunteers and stakeholders to effectively collaborate and complete all work orders, special projects and other maintenance needs. S/he will work closely with aquatic staff leaders and Executive Directors on regularly scheduled pool inspections to ensure proper and efficient working order at all times. S/he monitors daily operations to adhere to all state, local and YMCA health and safety standards, as well as identifies and resolves any safety maintenance concerns immediately. This individual will also be responsible for maintaining and ensuring compliance with required documentation of all MSDS manuals and all OSHA standards.

- Provides overall coordination of district facility maintenance, including planning and developing preventative maintenance.
- Ensures the proper operation of all mechanical systems.
- Completes repair work and projects in a timely manner. Oversees all contractors that work in the facility and grounds. May request and review bids, and recommend selection of contractors.
- Works with outside agencies such as fire, health, building depts.., etc. to ensure compliance with all local, state and federal regulations related to facilities and grounds.
- Develops budgets supporting the preventative and annual maintenance plans and monitors expenditures against budget.
- Recruits, hires, trains, develops, schedules and directs assigned staff and volunteers. Reviews and evaluates performance.
- Advises management on maintenance issues and projects.
- Ensures that assigned vehicles (and other equipment) are maintained and operated in accordance with the policies and procedures of the YMCA.
- Updates facility plans periodically. May develop annual plan of capital projects, consistent with the YMCA’s strategic plan and community needs.

To be successful, you must meet education, training and experience requirements, and you must be able to demonstrate some critical knowledge, skills, and abilities:
Education, Training and Experience
- High School diploma or equivalent required. Bachelor’s degree in facility management or related field preferred.
- Minimum of 7 years of experience in management of facilities, buildings and/or grounds required.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in staff supervision and leadership required.
- Minimum 7 years of progressive experience and responsibility in building maintenance, grounds keeping and/or general repair required.
- Building & grounds management experience overseeing multiple worksite locations / district responsibilities a plus.
- Experience working effectively with external vendors and contractors; overseeing capital / construction projects required.
- Additional training and/or certification in HVAC, plumbing or electrical desired.
- Valid state issued driver’s license required. If out of state license, must obtain valid Florida driver license within 90 days of hire date.
- Certified Pool Operator (CPO) certification a plus.
- Current CPR/AED and First Aid certifications required within 60 days of hire.
