This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. The Youth & Family Director leads all aspects of youth and family programming for the branch, ensuring the cause and culture is instilled in strategy and staff development.

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Directs and supervises activities to meet the needs of the community and fulfill YMCA objectives.
  • Recruits, hires, trains, develops, schedules and directs staff, contractors and volunteers as needed. Reviews and evaluates staff performance and manages payroll.
  • Develops and monitors program budget to meet fiscal objectives.
  • Supports and budgets for healthy eating through coaching, mentoring, and monitoring menu quality.
  • Monitors program operations, equipment and facilities, to adhere to all state, local and YMCA health and safety regulations.
  • Develops appropriate curriculum and ensures compliance with state and federal requirements, along with maintaining licensing regulations at all times.
  • Establishes new activities and relationships to expand program within the community in accordance with strategic and operating plans.
  • Assists in the marketing and distribution of program information, organizes and schedules program registrations. Reviews and processes program scholarship applications.
  • Coordinates scheduling, safety and use of facilities (on and off-site) for program activities and events.
  • Assists in YMCA fund raising activities and special events.
  • Models relationship-building skills in all interactions. Responds to all member and community inquiries and complaints in timely manner.
  • Actively participates in branch, department and association staff meetings and/or related trainings.
  • Compiles program statistics and submits reports. Makes program modifications as needed.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Educational Background: 
Bachelor's degree in related field or equivalent
Skills/Experience: 
  • Minimum 1 year supervisory experience in customer service &/or youth programming
  • Demonstrated success leading youth programming or equivalent team
  • Demonstrated leadership, dependability & flexibility in work hours
  • Complete within 30 days of hire: YMCA cause & culture training; program-specific training; Child Abuse Prevention Training; BLS CPR; First Aid; Emergency Oxygen Administration (provided by YMCA)
  • Must meet state licensing requirements for Director position, if applicable
  • Must meet annual training hour requirements for duration of position
  • Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community and successful clearance of background check

  • Office/recreational environment. Intermittent sitting, standing, walking are required. 
  • Sufficient strength, agility and mobility to perform essential functions and to supervise program.
  • Hours will include evening and weekend work.
  • Reliable transportation and travel among local branches will be required.
Compensation/Benefits: 

 

Salary: $37,393.00 - $43,563.00
