Our Downtown Family YMCA is looking to hire a Membership Manager to join their team!
This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. The Membership Manager works to ensure YMCA members and guests experience a safe & fun environment that helps them reach their goals. This includes, but is not limited to, member recruitment & retention activities as well as staff leadership.
Areas of Responsibility:
- Supports staff and volunteers. Works with supervisor to develop strategies to lead staff and achieve goals.
- Develops, models and integrates systems and practices that encourage and sustain positive relationships and retention of members/participants.
- Provides excellent service to members, guests, and program participants in the Y and on the phone, contributing to member retention.
- Conducts interviews and/or tours responsive to the needs of prospective members; sells memberships.
- Builds relationships with members; helps members connect with one another and the YMCA.
- Listens to and resolves membership concerns and informs supervisor of unusual situations or unresolved issues.
- Follows YMCA policies and procedures; responds to emergency situations.
- Actively participates in department and branch meetings and/or trainings.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Skills/Experience:
- Must be at least 18 years of age
- At least 1 year previous supervisory experience in customer service
- Demonstrated success leading member-focused or equivalent team
- Demonstrated leadership, dependability & flexibility in work hours
- Complete before first shift: YMCA cause & culture training; membership-specific training
- Complete within 30 days of hire: Child Abuse Prevention Training; BLS CPR; First Aid; Emergency Oxygen Administration (provided by YMCA)
- Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community and successful clearance of background check

Compensation/Benefits:
Hourly: $11.75 - $13.72
