The Development Coordinator works on a variety of fundrasing activities in support of approved tactics and provides administrative and/or program support to the Nebraska Chapter.
The Development Coordinator’s primary function is to provide support for the fundraising team. This includes responsibility for mastering the fundraising management system for processing and recording gifts and database management. The Coordinator will also produce donor reports, perform analysis and research and track prospects and donors. The Coordinator will interface with the finance department to insure proper depositing and crediting of philanthropic gifts. The Coordinator will oversee the office’s donor files as well as help maintain the integrity of the electronic files, prepare donor acknowledgments, and conduct and disseminate prospect research, They will support the fundraising team by continual updating of donor “opportunities”, plan steps and interactions. The Coordinator will contribute to grant application preparation and aid in researching and identifying external grant funding opportunities. They will be responsible for running the weekly fundraising (moves) meetings which includes entering follow up actions and ticklers in the database. The Coordinator will also assist with coordination of the annual crane tour logistics as well as support for other member/donor events. The Coordinator will be able to communicate effectively through report writing and email communication. The Coordinator will generate and prepare constituent mailing lists for multiple external communications as needed for the Chapter. They apply established processes and practices in order to improve effectiveness. The Coordinator will have substantial contact with staff, donors, and financial professionals. They will provide other staff with information they need to make decisions and solve problems. They will perform administrative functions as required.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND SCOPE
- May supervise volunteers.
- Expect extensive training for using the fundraising management system, as well as becoming acquainted with the SOPs and best practices within The Nature Conservancy.
- Duties are performed under general supervision and established guidelines.
- Refers difficult questions and unusual problems to supervisor.
- Serve as a team member for assigned projects.
- Work environment involves only infrequent exposure to disagreeable elements and minor physical exertion and/or strain.
- Occasional travel and overnight work for staff gatherings and some donor events.
- Work overtime as needed.
- Experience in business writing, editing, and proofreading.
- Experience managing diverse activities to meet deadlines.
- Experience working and communicating with a wide range of people.
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Multi-lingual skills and multi-cultural or cross-cultural experience appreciated.
- Ability to analyze information for the purpose of preparing reports, coordinating efforts and solving problems.
- Ability to apply research skills.
- Ability to write and edit written materials for use with donor solicitations, member communications, and special events.
- Experience, coursework, or other training in fundraising principles & practices.
- Experience working with databases, including managing and tracking data, preferably a fundraising database.
