Southwest Branch YMCA
Our Southwest branch has an immediate opening for a Youth & Family Director!
This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. The Youth & Family Director develops, organizes and implements high quality YMCA programming.
As the Youth and Family Director you can impact youth through the following program areas:
- Day Camp and Specialty Camp and Out of School Time during the School Year
- YMCA Camp Platte (Camp at the Platte State Park)
- Early Childhood Classes
- Tumbling and Dance programs
- Childwatch and Parent's Night Out
- Family Events
The idea candidate will be innovative, be able to build relationships with staff and program participants, be a great communicator and be able to take on multiple projects.
Areas of Responsibility:
- Directs and supervises activities to meet the needs of the community and fulfill YMCA objectives.
- Recruits, hires, trains, develops, schedules and directs staff, contractors and volunteers as needed.Reviews and evaluates staff performance. Develops strategies to motivate staff and achieve goals.
- Supports and budgets for healthy eating through coaching, mentoring, and monitoring menu quality.
- Creates and schedules all camp sessions and activities.
- Monitors program operations, equipment and facilities, to adhere to all state, local and YMCA health and safety regulations.
- Develops appropriate curriculum and ensure that it complies with state and federal requirements, along with maintaining licensing regulations at all times.
- Establishes new activities and expands program within the community in accordance with strategic and operating plans.
- Assists in the marketing and distribution of program information, organizes and schedules program registrations. Reviews and processes program scholarship applications.
- Manage payroll related transactions and monitor for accuracy and completeness.
- Develops and maintains collaborative relationships with community organizations.
- Develops and monitors program budget to meet fiscal objectives.
- Coordinates scheduling, safety and use of facilities (on and off-site) for program activities and events.
- Assists in YMCA fund raising activities and special events.
- Models relationship-building skills in all interactions. Responds to all member and community inquiries and complaints in timely manner.
- Actively participates in branch, department and association staff meetings and/or related trainings.
- Compiles program statistics. Monitors and evaluates the effectiveness of and participation
- in programs.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

- Office/recreational environment. Intermittent sitting, standing, walking are required.
- Sufficient strength, agility and mobility to perform essential functions and to supervise program.
- Hours will include evening and weekend work.
- Travel among local branches will be required.
- Reliable transportation required.
Skills/Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in related field or equivalent.
- At least one year previous supervisory experience in customer service and/or preferred.
- Complete within 30 days of hire: Child Abuse Prevention Training; BLS CPR; First Aid; Emergency Oxygen Administration
- Must meet state licensing requirements for Director position of applicable license
- Must meet annual training hour requirements for duration of position
- Completion of YMCA program-specific certifications.
- Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of
the community and successful clearance of background check.
