Our Southwest branch has an immediate opening for a Membership Manager!
This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. The Member Operations Mangers work collaboratively (am and pm shifts) to lead the membership department for the branch, including recruitment of new members, retention of existing members and supervision of assigned staff. The ideal candidate is outgoing and can connect with members to build relationships.
We are currently hiring for the morning position. Approximate times of work are Monday-Friday 7:00 am-2:00 pm and Saturday (3-5 hours).
$14-$16 per hour based on experience.
- Helps change lives every day by implementing strategies that support recruitment of new members and retention of existing members. Creates a member-focused culture and models relationship-building skills in all interactions. Fosters a climate of innovation and resolves problems to ensure member satisfaction.
- Develops a team by recruiting, hiring, trains, developing, scheduling and directing personnel and volunteers as needed. Reviews and evaluates staff performance. Develops strategies to motivate staff and achieve goals.
- Spreads the word by coordinating with marketing efforts to maximize enrollments and providing ongoing support to Program Directors on related issues and assisting in website and social media promotion.
- Promotes program and membership enrollment during interactions with existing and potential members. Coordinates with Program Directors on program specifics and registration details.
- Participates in the planning of the annual budget; manages and implements the approved budget for membership and takes appropriate action to correct variances.
- Implements collection strategies for returns and renewals.
- Ensures proper implementation of Welcome Center procedures and risk management guidelines. Reviews and updates desk procedures and communicates changes to staff. Coordinates with the business office as necessary on financial transactions.
- Manage payroll related transactions and monitor for accuracy and completeness.
- Operational support of YMCA fund raising activities and special events.
- Actively participates in branch, department and association staff meetings and/or trainings.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

- Travel among local branches will be required.
- Bachelor's degree in related field preferred.
- At least one year previous supervisory experience in customer service and/or sales preferred.
- Previous sales and/or retail experience preferred.
- Excellent personal computer skills and experience with standard business software.
- Complete within 30 days of hire: Child Abuse Prevention Training; BLS CPR; First Aid; Emergency Oxygen Administration (provided by YMCA)
- Completion of YMCA program-specific trainings.
- Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community and successful clearance of background check.
