YMCA of the Twin Tiers is looking for a dynamic, motivated individual capable of working in a fast-paced environment. This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit, charitable organization committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. The Membership & Marketing Director intentionally fosters a cause-centered culture that is welcoming, genuine, hopeful, nurturing, and determined. This position also builds the community's understanding of the YMCA's cause and impact through development and implementation of effective membership development, marketing, and communication strategies.

Areas of Responsibility: 

The Membership & Marketing Director oversees the association membership and program promotions, external communications and marketing, and the Olean Y branch membership department. Key essential functions include, but are not limited to:

  • Management of the Olean Y Membership Department ensuring accurate membership files, effective front desk operations, and ensures the highest level of member customer service.
  • Develops annual operating goals, goals, objectives and plan for the marketing and communications area. Monitors achievement and takes action to ensure goals/objectives are met.
  • Recruits, hires, and trains staff to effectively operate the Olean Y Membership Department and the external marketing/communication for the Association.
  • Develops, produces, and distributes program information necessary to promote assigned programs, in accordance with membership and marketing plans.
  • Establishes and maintains contact with media representatives. Writes and submits press releases when appropriate. Maintains updated files of the Y's media relations (press and electronic).
  • Develops, monitors, and administers assigned annual budget and maintains a positive fiscal position.
  • Identifies and builds relationships with internal and/or external partners or key stakeholders, such as service groups, community organizations or companies, to support programs/projects.
  • Effectively communicates community benefit and the Y's impact to all stakeholders staff, volunteers, members, community leaders, donors).
  • Ensures the branches, offsite locations and association is compliant with Y Brand Standards. Leads the education of all key staff in maintaining the standards.
  • Provides and maintains related statistics and reports.
  • Educates staff, volunteers, and members about the charitable nature of the Y; leads assigned aspects of the fundraising campaign.
  • Takes a leadership role in the Annual Campaign and serves as the Campaign Spirit Director for the campaign. Recruits, onboards, and develops volunteers from diverse backgrounds for the annual campaign program. Works closely with the CEO, branch leadership and the Association Advancement Director in meeting the established annual campaign goal.
Educational Background: 
Bachelor's degree in a related field preferred or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Skills/Experience: 
  • YMCA Team Leader certification preferred.
  • Previous professional experience in membership, marketing and/or sales preferred.
  • Excellent personal computer skills and experience with standard business software.
  • Must have strong interpersonal, public relations and communication skills, including the ability to make presentations and handle media inquiries.
Compensation/Benefits: 

Salary: $48,000.00 - $50,000.00
