Under the direction of the CEO is focused on supporting the vision and setting the overall strategy and direction for association wide Child Care operations. The Director of Child Care Services holds primary responsibility for the administration of two Early Learning Centers, nine school age sites, and summer day camp programs at each of the branches. This position drives quality results in a dynamic and multi-faceted organization and understands and emulates the mission, vision and philosophy of the YMCA to ensure the successful operation of all facets of child care services and the development of new program initiatives, including curriculum, quality standards, outcomes and measurements, associate leadership and development, volunteer recruitment, financial development, community relations, collaborations, partnerships and policy at the state and local level, budgeting and financial results.
- Provides strategic leadership for all association-wide child care services including infant and preschool Early Learning Centers, school-age childcare (SACC), camp, early childhood education, and child safety strategies.
- Develops a department budget for approval and manages the budget successfully within a 3% deficit.
- Responsible for administering and ensuring accurate and appropriate reporting for all grants related to child care services including but not limited to 21st Century, Advantage After School Program (AASP), CACFP food reimbursement program. Develops and cultivates relationships with grantors.
- Works closely with the CFO to develop effective and accurate invoicing and fee collection for fee-based programs and invoicing for DSS and CCIS reimbursements.
- Seeks out grant funding and financial support for programs and lead department functions of the annual campaign.
- Maintains an appropriate relationship with community groups and organizations as a representative of the YMCA of the Twin Tiers while exploring opportunities for quality and growth.
- Ensures child safety strategies and best practices are implemented throughout all child care service programs.
- Provides day to day leadership and support for all child care service programs to ensure quality, growth, safety and retention.
- Ensure effective associate leadership with emphasis on the development of unified and consistent curriculum, academic programming, and healthy lifestyles.
- Evaluate program effectiveness through associate, parent, child and school evaluations and manage outcome measurement.
- Works and interacts with the association leadership staff, board of directors and other volunteer committees.
- Partners with Marketing and Communication team to create marketing and promotion strategies for all Child Care Services efforts.
- Ensures all state regulations are adhered to and maintained at all locations.
- Coordinates a training and leadership program for department employees ensuring a consistent level of competencies and attention to quality and best practices including new employee orientation, child abuse and safety training, risk management, and program curriculum.
- Plays a high profile positioning the YMCA of the Twin Tiers as a leader in quality and innovative child care and youth development.
- Carries out additional responsibilities and assignments deemed necessary by the CEO.
- Continue professional development through community involvement; reading; and further education.
- Five years proven multi-site experience in the child care or education field including preschool, before and after, early learning, and/or summer camp.
- Three years previous experience in volunteer recruitment, fundraising, and fiscal management.
- Five years of senior leadership experience supervising seasoned associates.
- Sound leadership in program development, licensing and accreditation, and operational procedures.
- Proven record of meeting and exceeding goals consistently.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with leaders of corporations, community organizations, school districts, families and program participants.
- Proven ability to have initiative, good judgment and to make decisions independently.
- Demonstrated written and verbal communication skills including public speaking, negotiation, report preparation and presentation skills.
- Energetic, self-motivated, flexible and adaptable, able to multi-task and work independently in a fast-paced work environment.
- A team player with an attitude of service and ability to motivate others.
Salary: $50,000.00 - $65,000.00
