General Summary

Searching for an energetic, organized individual focused on changing the world through the mission of the Alzheimer's Association. Must be a team player skilled in relationship building with staff, volunteers and constituents. Manage a team spread across multiple offices while thriving in a team environment. Implement creative, brand-based strategies to further the organizational mission and achieve crucial measurable goals within a strategic plan. The Director of Programs is responsible for providing leadership and strategic direction for the development, implementation and evaluation of quality Alzheimer's Association programs and services in the chapter territory. Measurable outcomes are increased utilization of Chapter services, increased referrals from healthcare, consistently high quality delivery of service, increased chapter engagement in research participation, volunteerism and diverse communities.

Essential Job Functions

1. Strategic Leadership (60%):

  • Lead the chapter in establishing strategic initiatives, tactics and measures that move chapter toward 10-year Association vision of serving 90% of people with dementia.
  • Lead the development of a department plan to expand program reach with special attention to increasing participation among minority, high-risk and underserved populations. Provide leadership for the delivery of all programs and services including planning, budgeting, program evaluation and adherence to National program standards and reporting processes.
  • Create and manage departmental budget; secure grant funding to grow support of programs and provide leadership to assure grant outcomes are achieved
  • Assure at least 90% client satisfaction in program delivery
Lead a high performance team of staff and volunteers to implement chapter's programs and services
  • Supervise Managers for Client Services and Community Outreach to expand service delivery throughout Chapter territory, especially among minority, high-risk and underserved populations.
  • Provide leadership to key volunteer-powered, Board Mission Advancement Committee.
Nurture a culture of volunteer engagement to expand services and reflects best practices of the Association and within the region. Active collaborator within Chapter's Leadership Team
2. Partnership and Resource Development (30%):
  • Develop new, sustainable community partnerships that advance the chapter mission, expand program reach and increase program delivery as per Strategic Plan goals.
  • Build strategic partnerships with community organizations, academic, public and private sector to advance the chapter mission and serve more clients across the territory.
  • Create a moves management process to develop relationships into partnerships supporting the full Alzheimer's Association mission.
Collaborate with Development staff and Senior Donor Advisor to create private funding streams for program expansion. Draft and present major donor proposals with chapter leadership. Serve as chapter lead to secure governmental grants for program expansion.
3. General chapter responsibilities (10%):
  • Cultivate and recruit supporters for chapter fundraising events like Walk to End Alzheimer's and Longest Day. Generate leads for Development team.
  • Maintain National reports, service statistics and grant-related paperwork.
  • Actively engage in collaborative efforts with other chapters, Region 6 and potentially involving national initiatives
  • Identify and cultivate key relationships with external agencies.
  • Other Duties as assigned

Minimum Requirements

Position Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in Public Health, Social Work, Health Care Management or related field required
  • 6-8 years progressive experience with program delivery / development / management; 4+ years staff & volunteer management
  • Demonstrated history of clinical services delivery, quality program evaluation, strong public speaking skills and volunteer mobilization
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (especially Word & Excel); ability to learn constituent relationship management databases
  • Aptitude for learning constituent relationship management databases a must • Understanding of Google-based apps a plus
  • Proficiency in working with audio/visual equipment a plus
  • Demonstrated success working with diverse populations, volunteers, staff to build and maintain successful teams.

  • Candidate for the position must be a team player that embodies integrity, has strong interpersonal skills and is an effective communicator.
  • Must possess excellent training and presentations skills including the ability to engage audiences with credibility.
  • Superior ability to communicate in person, print, and electronically to variable audiences.
  • Use of constituent databases.
  • Position operates in a flexible work environment which requires some travel by car throughout the state and flexibility to work evenings and weekends to meet community needs.
