The Finance Director is responsible for managing the financial resources for the purpose of influencing a positive outcome of the Association’s operations. The Finance Director has a major role in planning, measuring and reporting the Association’s financial position and for making certain that the funds acquired are properly handled.

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Translates organizational goals into executable plans with accountable staff and volunteers by defining tasks, milestones, and priorities for programs or projects; manages all functions of accounting and business operations, ensuring that legal and audit requirements are met, and that best practices and maximum efficiency are obtained.
  • Hire, train, evaluate and supervise staff and volunteers in accordance with Association Human Resource procedures and policies.  Provide direction and leadership to:  Accounts Payable Manager, Finance Administrative Assistant, and Membership Billing Manager.
  • Develop annual income and expense budget for approval by the Association Board of Directors.  Administer budget, exercising necessary controls to assure operations, which are consistent with the approved budget.  Whenever necessary, recommend adjustments to the budget to assure a balanced operation.
  • Implements appropriate systems and internal controls to adequately safeguard the YMCAs financial resources and to provide a solid basis for accurately reporting financial data.
  • Oversees the month-end and year-end closings and the preparation of statements and reports.
  • Finalize year-end financial statements, prepare necessary documents and coordinate audit with independent accounting firm conforming to GAAP and meeting all IRS requirements.  Lead the YMCA of the USA annual reporting process for the Association
  •  Maintain all contracts in a central location, manage and assure legal signatures on all contracts throughout the organization.
  • Manage retirement eligibility, enrollment and contributions to the YMCA Retirement Fund
  • In cooperation with the Human Resource Director, maintain time clock system and employee pay rates, and ensure accurate and timely payroll processing.
  • Responsible for submitting all required payroll related reports (941, 940, 5500 C/R, etc.) and other financial reporting required by State or Federal government
  • Lead Association Finance Committee.  With guidance from the committee chair/CEO, prepare meeting agenda and handouts.  Attend, participate and take minutes for committee meetings and communicate information to appropriate staff to coordinate efforts throughout the organization.
  • Serve as a key member of the CEO’s Direct Report team.  Attend staff and board meetings, workshops and seminars at the discretion of the CEO.
  • Follow all YMCA policies, rules, regulations and procedures. 
  • Uphold the YMCA mission and core values of honesty, caring, respect, responsibility and faith when dealing with people within the YMCA facilities and in the community.
Educational Background: 
Bachelor’s degree and at least 5 years of related work experience, required.
Skills/Experience: 
  • Certifications that must be obtained and maintained within first 90 days: Child Abuse Prevention, Blood borne Pathogens, Hazard Communication.
Compensation/Benefits: 

Salary :$65,711.00 - $78,854.00
