Who is Raheem

Raheem is an organization of lifelong organizers and radical technologists reimagining safety and making police obsolete. As an abolitionist organization, we are not interested in reforming the behaviors or policies of the police.

Instead, we are helping create a life-affirming world that responds to conflict, not with violence, but care. Our team is building new relationships and developing technology that connects people to care before, during, and after crises without the need for police involvement.

Raheem is a predominantly Black, Black-led organization committed to group-centered leadership, and our work will always be informed—and led—by those most impacted by police terror in the United States.

We are queer, straight, and womanist. We are the children of people born during WWII, Jim Crow, and desegregation. Across the country, all of us were born into a world in crisis.

We were raised during America’s War in Vietnam, the 1980’s crack epidemic, and the rise of global capitalism. We came of age during the global HIV pandemic and America’s Wars in Afghanistan and Iraq.

We were born before and during the digital revolution, and have learned, educated others, and organized both offline and online. We have built nonprofits from the ground up, delivered services to those in need, led direct actions, developed tech products, and more.
