Context: As part of the Office of Chapter Support, implements Training Program focused on movement building and equity at the local group and chapter level, comprised of our local entities and volunteers. 

Scope: Serves as part of the Office Of Chapter Support and supports the implementation of training strategies and projects to support equity and movement building and build capacity at the chapter and local group levels.  Ensures that equity trainings and education are aligned with the Equity Departments frameworks, strategy, and Sierra Club’s Multi-Year Equity Plan.

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Supports the development of the Chapter Support staff, volunteer team, and the Equity Support Team in their equity journey and facilitation skills.
  • Works with the Equity Department’s Deputy Director and the Training Director to identify opportunities for collaboration to offer in person and online trainings and facilitation consistent with equity strategy and frameworks.
  • Works in collaboration with Programs Training Team to implement strategies and projects that advance Chapter Support goals.
  • Works in collaboration with other training stakeholders to create and manage learning content on the Sierra Club Online Learning Platform.
  • Partners with stakeholders to create tailored plans to train their Training Leads in equity and movement building content adhering to training best practices
  • Continuously identifies the greatest learning needs and challenges to drive progress on equity and movement building.
  • Stay current on best practices in the field, emerging curriculum and theory and work within communities of practice across other equity, grassroots and movement building organizations.
  • Performs other duties as assigned
Skills/Experience: 
  • 2 years’ experience in training and facilitation skills in equity and using the experiential learning cycle
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Organized and able to prioritize assignments.
  • Ability to meet strict deadlines and work under pressure.
  • Ability to interact cooperatively and effectively with staff and volunteers.
  • Ability to work with a wide range of demographics
  • Ability to travel for work
  • Commitment to Sierra Club values of equity and justice
  • At least 3 years’ experience in training, education and/or facilitation
  • Demonstrated capacity to design learning programs related to core competencies with measurable impact.
