This position will work directly with the National Advertising Director and will be a key role to help increase third-party advertising for Sierra Media and overall Sierra Club partnership revenue, optimize delivery processes and revenue models, and help create a strategy to increase traffic to Sierra Media properties.
Advertising campaign management
- Manage digital advertising sales on all platforms including website, newsletters, digital edition, Flipsnack, etc. for Sierra Media. Assure smooth and efficient workflow using Google Analytics, DFP, and Google spreadsheets.
- Manage digital ad campaign preparation, materials, reporting, analysis, and renewals, working in conjunction with Sierra Media’s Production & Digital Engagement Manager.
- Develop process for ensuring timely and accurate reporting to current partners. Generate weekly, monthly, and year-over-year reporting for Sierra Media digital properties, with benchmarks, analysis, and recommendations for optimization.
- Work in association with the Production & Digital Engagement Manager to track, schedule, and manage ad inventory to ensure impressions are served and inventory is optimized.
- Collaborate with Communications staff who manage e-newsletter sends (Insider, Green Life) to plan inventory availability, scheduling, partner/advertiser materials, and execution.
- Collaborate with Digital Marketing Manager (Business Partnerships) to develop and implement digital partner campaigns across Sierra Club and SIERRA Media channels.
Digital media business development
- Proactively work with the National Advertising Director to build digital aspects of the editorial and media story for the Sierra Club and Sierra Media.
- Create integrated digital advertising and partnership campaign packages for current and prospective advertisers, partners, and internal Sierra Club departments.
Custom & sponsored content development
- Work with partnerships development team, partners, and Communications video production staff to ideate, develop pitches, and integrate digital packages.
- Manage digital aspects of native advertising projects (custom and sponsored content) including assisting with ideation, coordinating with Digital Strategies and Sierra editorial staff, securing internal and external approvals, and meeting deadlines and staying within budget.
- Help develop and refine digital business models for display, custom, and sponsored content on sierramagazine.org and related e-newsletter properties.
Sierra Media growth & content distribution
- Develop & execute strategy for generating more traffic to Sierramagazine.org and growing the Green Life e-newsletter list, including content swaps with likely affinity partners as well as the exploration and piloting of channels such as Facebook Instant Articles, Google AMP, YouTube and other platforms to distribute content to new audiences.
- Coordinate and improve Sierra Media visibility, digital communications, and promotions including Sierra 360 monthly B2B newsletter. Work closely with the editors to get promotional editorial content online and placed with the Sierra Club’s social media team.
- Evaluate programmatic advertising options, any 3rd party resources that can help grow traffic and ad views. Work with the National Advertising Director to create proposed improved strategies.
- Analyze research data from internal and external resources to quantify Sierra Media’s audience and market position. Augment existing digital media kits and support new proposals and opportunities for partnerships
- Continuously monitor traffic growth and provide regular updates to National Advertising Director and Senior Director of Brand Marketing & Partnerships as well as recommendations on potential partner rate shifts/increases.
Minimum Qualifications:
- 4+ years relevant experience in digital advertising, marketing, and project management
- 3+ years of proven experience with accountability in a fast-paced environment
Preferred Qualifications:
- Proactive, creative, and organized with strong communication skills
- Experience with Word, Excel and Google Docs, Google Analytics, Double-Click for Publishers required
- Experience with Salesforce and Drupal a plus
