Under the direction of the Buildings & Properties Director the Shift Building Engineer is responsible for overseeing that all routine and emergency maintenance and repair services are completed to ensure a positive guest, member and resident experience. Responsible for routine assessments of building systems and equipment, analyzes data to ensure proper functioning and adheres to preventative maintenance plans. Provides hands-on support for routine, preventative, and maintenance services as needed such as carpentry, electrical, HVAC, plumbing, pool and other building systems to optimize service quality and maintenance costs while adhering to building codes, maintenance standards and processes.
- Ensures execution of facility and maintenance plans, and follows related standards, building codes, policies and processes in support of internal quality standards and controls.
- Ensure document all mechanical, plumbing, electrical, fitness and pool equipment, are maintained in good working order and adhering to a preventive maintenance program.
- Staffing to include recruit, hire, and train, develop, schedule and direct assigned staff.
- Monitors and evaluates utility services including electricity, natural gas, water, storm drainage, and septic systems and maintains appropriate records and documentation.
- Monitors fire and life safety systems, elevator and emergency exit plans, and identifies safety items to make sure they are prioritized throughout the facilities.
- Identify, evaluate, troubleshoot, repair and provide guidance on building and equipment issues as needed. Including pool, spa, plumbing, electrical, and HVAC.
- Responds to and completes work orders in a timely manner including reporting on work progress and completion. Provides daily assignments to maintenance technicians, and works with vendors and others as appropriate to complete work orders and document results. Utilizes maintenance management system to enter, track, analyze and report on work orders and activities.
- Perform regular audits to ensure work is performed correctly and within standards.
- Responsible for after hour emergencies on a rotating basis with director’s approval.
- Works with institution to provide support in all facility events.
- Other duties as assigned by Building and Properties Director.
- Some vocational courses in HVAC, electrical, plumbing, carpentry, IT, boiler operation & maintenance, or 3-5 years of experience.
- Journeyman’s level of expertise & some hands-on experience in the above areas
- Proven mechanical &/or electrical aptitude, problem solving & trouble shooting skills.
- Has communication, interpersonal abilities & project planning skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office suite.
- Must be flexible with working nights, weekends, and holidays.
Salary: $50,000.00
