Under the supervision and direction of the Youth Development Director, the School Age Program Coordinator provides direction for all school age programs (including but not limited to Y-Kids Before and After School Program, Day Camp, and School’s Out Specials) and supervision of school age program staff. Implements program curriculum in the classroom. Provides a quality experience to children and parents that focuses on the YMCA core values: honesty, respect, responsibility, and caring.

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Implements and oversees curriculum in accordance with established guidelines, YMCA Best Practice modules and school age out of school program standards.
  • Works with front line staff to design and implement daily age appropriate lesson/activity plans.
  • Supervises and schedules the school age program staff. Provide staff guidance, training and leadership on ongoing basis.
  • Conducts parent conferences, maintains communication with parents and engages parents as volunteers.
  • Maintains program areas and equipment.
  • Maintains all required YMCA program and DCFS state required records.
  • Upholds all YMCA policies and DCFS mandated regulations regarding program.
  • Works with other Youth Development leaders to ensure growth and impact goals are being tracked and met each year.
Educational Background: 
Bachelor’s degree in Education, Recreation, Childhood Development, or related field preferred
Skills/Experience: 
  • Meets age, educational, and experience qualifications established by DCFS licensing for school age lead teacher, and additionally meet DCFS director requirements
  • CRP, First Aid, AED certifications and Child Abuse prevention training within 30 days of hire
  • Previous experience working with children in a developmentally appropriate setting preferred
  • Ability to plan, organize, and implement age/developmentally appropriate program activities
  • Previous experience working with diverse populationsGood oral and written communicate skills
  • Prior supervisory experience preferred
Compensation/Benefits: 

Hourly: $14.00 - $15.00
