Director, Regional Content Strategy Support – (NYC)

The Role as the Director of Regional Content Strategy Support you will provide counsel and expertise to help augment the national content strategy to meet the needs of regions, in close collaboration with the Regional Communications team. This new role has been created because actionable, timely, and valuable content is central to how Teach For America achieves its powerful mission to transform society through educational reform and because the regions are where corps members make the most meaningful connection to Teach For America.

In collaboration with the Senior Managing Director of Content Strategy and the Managing Director of Content Strategy you will contribute to the overall strategy for modelling content for all of Teach For America’s audiences. You will work with the Regional Communications team to develop elements of the regional strategy and establish a clear approach to creating, managing, measuring, and optimizing content for our regions. You will also be an influential voice in determining what content should be shared across regions and in national channels.

The Director of Regional Content Strategy Support will report to the Managing Director of Content Strategy.

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Audit and augment the national content strategy to make sure Teach For America’s regional content is properly structured, maintained, and measured
  • Provide support to the Regional Communications team to ensure all activities are focused on user needs that meet Teach For America business goals
  • Execute regional trainings to make Teach For America’s regional content strategy best in class
  • Execute learning and development to make all of Teach For America’s content strategy best in class
  • Catalog, document, and maintain a site content inventory of all Teach For America’s regional web, social, and email activities
  • Conduct content audits to assess and evaluate content quality
  • Conduct competitive analyses of content
  • Create taxonomy/nomenclature lists and definitions
  • Edit regional content and write new content where necessary in the service of enabling regional marketers to be self-sustaining
  • Support regional team members in entering content into the CMS (Drupal 7)
  • Contribute to the content model that captures content types and attributes, with a focus on regional variations
  • Prepare gap analysis to identify new content to be developed
  • Maintain and enforce style guidelines
  • Participate in the content creation, editing, and approval workflows in an agile/Lean environment
  • Utilize data-driven insights, shifts in the market, and technology advancements to provide recommended enhancements to the underlying content strategy
  • Ensure that regions are measuring and evaluating content quality on an ongoing basis and using research and data to ensure content effectiveness
  • Manage to SEO standards
  • Advocate for and operate under an agile/Lean UX environment with confidence
Educational Background: 
Bachelor's Degree
Skills/Experience: 

Prior Experience

  • 6-8 years of experience in content strategy or user experience at a mid-size to large organization
  • Demonstrated experience with user experience principles and how these impact the way content is structured, deployed, measured, and maintained
  • A track record of developing successful content strategies for organizations across multiple channels, at scale, over the course of multiple content cycles
  • Experience in applying data analysis to content to form insights
  • Experience with analytics tools, including Google Analytics
  • Experience working with editorial teams, software engineers, and creatives

Skills 

  • Strong presentation skills
  • Fluency in conducting content audits, creating taxonomies, developing tagging structures, and designing content models
  • Passionate about educational equity as well as a demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusiveness
  • Able to think big, generate ideas and drive solutions to complex problems in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
  • An exceptional writer and oral communicator, including the skills to write in others’ voices and in edit others’ work
  • Skilled in the art of persuasion, with a deep sense of humility and openness to the perspectives of others
  • Able to maintain a sense of possibility in the face of obstacles, and balances both short- and long-term results

Work Demands

  • National travel for in-person meetings will vary throughout the year, but is estimated to include an average of 1 trip per month; some weekend and evening work expected.

Salary for this position is competitive and depends on prior experience. In addition, a comprehensive benefits package is included.
