The Assistant Director of Quincy After School and Day Camp is responsible for the planning, execution and overall operation of a high-quality Afterschool and Day Camp program which will include promoting YMCA core values and encourage lifelong learning. This position is responsible for providing community leadership for family/child development, leadership collaborations and be able to demonstrate high-quality member service to both internal and external program participants, families, members, and volunteers to ensure member involvement, service, and retention.
PROGRAM MANAGEMENT
- Assist the Afterschool Director with program planning and execution of Afterschool program sites and fulfill YMCA objectives. Assist Day Camp Director with Quincy Day Camp operations. Responsible for maintaining compliance in all related areas including EEC licensing procedures and regulations, CACFP food program, promoting YUSA Healthy Eating Physical Activity (HEPA) standards. Provide reasonable accommodations to allow children with disabilities to participate in activities whenever possible and to meet each child’s individual needs according to EEC and ADA.
STAFF ENGAGEMENT & DEVELOPMENT
- Supervision of program staff and participants in accordance with the organization's policies, EEC regulations, applicable laws, and QRIS Standards. Monitor and communicate with supervisor all staff related EEC, QRIS, and South Shore YMCA requirements.
MEMBERSHIP ENGAGEMENT & DEVELOPMENT
- Building relationships with and among families and members, responding to inquiries and solving problems. Creates a supportive community environment, recruits and engages new families, and connects families to the YMCA’s cause.
FACILITY MANAGEMENT
- Works with Site Contacts, Site Coordinators, and Group Leaders to ensure that program facilities and equipment for children are safe, clean, adequately equipped, well maintained, and attractive.
VOLUNTEER DEVELOPMENT
- Responsible for engaging and working with volunteers.
COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT & SUPPORT
- May assist in YMCA fund raising activities/events and engages in collaborative relationships with community organizations in order to strengthen support and build community.
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience working with school age children.
- Must have six months of administrative experience or evidence of satisfactory completion of at least nine credits in management or administration subject areas from an accredited institution of higher education.
- Knowledge and experience with EEC regulations and QRIS is preferred.
- Demonstrated skills with staff performance measures, volunteer development, planning, supervision and fundraising.
- The ability to develop positive, effective working relationships with, staff, children & families, volunteers, school administrators, members, community leaders and other agencies are critical to this position.
- Effective teaching skills, the ability to implement methods to address and follow up with family needs/concerns in a positive and professional way reflecting an attitude that values diversity.
- Must meet EEC Educator Professional Development requirements and the Afterschool Program’s goals. PQ Registry must remain current and reflect all PD hours, trainings and college level courses.
- Obtain a 7D pupil transport license within the first 60 days.
