The Board of Directors of the Northfield Area Family YMCA is looking for a visionary leader who can build strong relationships with high visibility in the communities we serve. This energetic and entrepreneurial leader should exhibit an outgoing personality and an engaging manner with the aim of demonstrating the indispensable nature of our YMCA as a community asset. The YMCA seeks to be at the center of community life as a leading provider of youth programs, and health and wellness services.
- Advocate the Vision of the Y serving as a Mission-Driven Leader: Inspire and mobilize community members, every Y staff member, program volunteers, board volunteers, Y members, and donors – everywhere the Y has a presence – to make our community stronger. Be seen as an active and integral member of the community. Serve as an ambassador for the Y mission, cause and vision. Maintain the image of a respected community leader.
- Implement a Strategic Plan: Possess the ability to work effectively with board of directors, volunteers, community leaders, and key staff to identify critical community needs and create annual strategic roadmaps focused on organizational strategies. Lead staff in the development and implementation of goals through an annual operating plan. Lead volunteers in aligning committees and their charts of work to support the strategies and goals of the Y.
- Build and Manage the Staff Team: The YMCA seeks a “servant leader” who can inspire a positive attitude and build a cohesive team. The new CEO will create a plan to build unity, encourage teamwork, set operational goals tied to a strategic plan, hold staff accountable, and foster individual staff development. Lead by example; remain actively engaged in staff development and performance leading to superior results in programs, member satisfaction and community engagement. This will result in the enhancement and growth of membership services and programs.
- Lead Fundraising Efforts: Serve as a strategist in fundraising efforts by working with the board to establish and carry out a plan for how the organization will raise contributed dollars for operations and continued facility maintenance as well as expanding services to the community. Must be able to position the Y as a charity of choice by instilling confidence, credibility, and trust in the Y with community leaders and donors.
- Establish and Maintain a Culture: Strengthen a culture of inclusion, integrity, character, and life-long learning within the YMCA organization that reinforces, encourages, and promotes values of honesty, respect, responsibility, and caring.
- Minimum five years prior experience in a senior management role with a YMCA or related experience at a comparable organization.
- Fiscally sound business management approach and experience with fiscal management for a complex organization in excess of $1M annually.
- Ability to develop and strengthen community relationships.
- Proven ability to develop new programs, review and enhance programs being offered and the effectiveness in broadening engagement in the communities served.
- Demonstrated excellent leadership and communication skills (both written and verbal) as well as personal values consistent with the YMCA mission.
PREFERRED CRITERIA FOR CANDIDATES:
- Strategic planning and fundraising experience including annual campaigns, capital campaigns, endowment development and the securing of grants.
- YMCA Organizational Leader Certification. If the candidate does not possess this, they must obtain it within 3 years from the date of hire.
Salary Range:$80k - $95k, Salary offer is commensurate with experience
Benefits: Retirement contribution 12% (7% paid by YMCA, 5% by employee), vacation plan, $6,500 stipend for health insurance, and other benefits per personnel policy
