The North Canton YMCA is a branch with 15,500 members and three buildings.  The child care program operates from our Child Development Center.  We are looking for an energetic and conscientious leader with excellent knowledge and skills in the area of child development and business administration. The Child Development Director is responsible for the oversight of day-to-day operations of a year-round child care program for children Birth – 12 years of age and summer day camp. 

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Manages, directs and coordinates year round child care. Ensures high quality programs and establishes new program activities.
  • Recruits, hires, trains, develops, schedules and directs personnel and volunteers as needed. Reviews and evaluates staff performance. Develops strategies to motivate staff and achieve goals.
  • Develops, manages and controls budgets related to the position. Ensures program operates within budget and that program fees are collected.
  • Monitor program service fees, receivables, payables, and scholarships affecting the financial picture of the program.
  • Assures compliance with state and local regulations as they relate to program areas. Ensures that YMCA program standards are met and safety procedures followed.
  • Develops and maintains relationships with state child care licensing agency, school administration, parent groups, and other organizations and agencies related to assigned programs. Responds to all agency, parent and community inquiries and complaints in a timely manner.
Educational Background: 
Bachelor's (or higher) Degree in Education or related field
Skills/Experience: 
  • Minimum: 21 years old
  • 3-5 years experience in the child care arena 
  • Must have strong communication, supervisory and organizational skills and ability to multi-task
  • Ability to relate effectively to diverse group of people from all social and economical segments of the community
  • CPR and First-Aid Qualified
Compensation/Benefits: 

Salary: $40,000.00 - $45,000.00
