The University of Oklahoma seeks a dynamic, collegial and creative individual to serve as the Director of Finance and Administration at the David L. Boren College of International Studies (CIS).  CIS is the home of global engagement at the University of Oklahoma (OU).  We provide services to all of the university’s international students, organize transformative study abroad opportunities throughout the world and at our Italian and Mexican study centers, and host academic programs and research centers in international and areas studies.  The College just marked its 10th anniversary and is entering into an ambitious new phase.

Areas of Responsibility: 

The Director of Finance and Administration plays a key role on the College’s leadership team in a range of areas, including (among others):

  • Delivering effective financial management and oversight for the College’s budget and personnel operations.
  • Tracking and forecasting budget usage while identifying problems and opportunities for better aligning resources with the strategic direction of the College.
  • Managing overseas budgets, bank accounts, and communicate with foreign consultants and external vendors arising from study abroad operations.
  • Managing labor contracts, hotel and lodging contracts, and third-party study abroad provider contracts and MOU's.
  • Anticipating and finding solutions to operational, informational technology and infrastructure problems at our beautiful home on campus, Farzaneh Hall.
  • Supporting a positive and productive work environment for the College’s staff, by liaising with the university’s Human Resources department (among others) and engaging with other directors of the College to develop and implement responsive and empowering personnel development policies.
  • Collaborating with colleagues to suggest process improvements and to ensure that decisions and operations align with the mission of the College.
Skills/Experience: 

Required qualifications - We are looking for individuals with:

  • Strong budgeting and financial management skills;
  • Experience applying such skills in complex and dynamic organizational settings, preferably at a supervisory level;
  • An entrepreneurial, collegial and mission-serving mind-set;
  • A passion for delivering results collaboratively, with an ability to multi-task and to balance detail-oriented work with a strategic sense of what will serve the College’s larger mission;
  • Excellent written and interpersonal communication skills, applied with sensitivity to a multicultural, diverse workplace;
  • A desire to serve the public good through global engagement in higher education; and
  • Bachelor’s degree and relevant work experience.
Compensation/Benefits: 

Salary range is $55,000-$80,000 depending on experience and qualifications.
