Take the next step in your career with this rewarding opportunity to join the YMCA of South Hampton Roads, 8th largest membership YMCA association in the country, as the Property Director, at the Blocker Family YMCA, located in the beautiful city of Norfolk, Virginia.

Provide exemplary service to members and prospective members, demonstrating excellent human relations skills and strong accountability for the maintenance and upkeep of building and grounds of assigned YMCA Centers and to also provide support to other YMCA of South Hampton Roads facilities as needed

Areas of Responsibility: 

Priorities:

  • Be accountable and responsible for all facility upkeep and general maintenance to assigned facilities
  • Repair, fix, replace, paint, etc. any and all property/equipment on-premises
  • Communicate with all departments, providing leadership as needed

Budget and Financial Performance

  • Prepares the annual expense budget for department
  • Exercises necessary controls to assure operations are carried out in a balanced fiscal position

Program Development and Membership Management

  • Works with members to resolve issues and concerns that arise concerning properties
  • Completes all work at the highest quality of standards
  • Ensures cleanliness of facility at all times
  • Ensures the outside of buildings are well maintained

Team Performance toward Organizational Goals

  • Works in conjunction and maintain lines of communication with the Vice President of Property and Assets, District Property Director, District Vice President and family center teams
  • Completes a weekly preventative maintenance plan
  • Adheres to all OSHA standards
  • Maintains proper forms for accurate record-keeping, recording work orders using Facility Dude software and report and maintain occurrence reports/records within department
  • Maintains all logbooks associated with monthly, quarterly, bi-annual and annual inspections
  • Assists with all other center and association duties as assigned

Fundraising

  • Actively participates in annual giving campaigns

Professional Development

  • Attends department, center, and association staff meetings and trainings when required
  • Completes required trainings, including New Staff Orientation, bloodborne pathogens, and child abuse prevention
  • Must maintain cooperative, functional relationships with senior leadership team, peers, and subordinates
  • Must maintain a positive, energetic attitude toward YMCA work, goals, and values and clean, neat professional appearance
Skills/Experience: 
  • General property maintenance knowledge of HVAC, Plumbing, Carpentry, Painting, Electrical and Property operations
  • Basic knowledge of computers and ability to learn business software
  • Knowledge of cleaning supplies, equipment, and their proper uses and techniques for cleaning facility
  • Punctual, reliable and ability to troubleshoot as needed
  • Mature with good judgment, able to operate with minimum guidance supervisor
  • Effective team-building and team-leadership skills
  • Ability to respond to emergencies 24 hours a day, and to travel as needed for operational management, including on-site presence in managing major operational problems
  • Ability to exercise appropriate independent judgment, to assess facts and issues, and make non-routine decisions regarding day-to-day operational problems and issues
  • Effective oral and written communication skills and the ability to respond to a wide variety of constituencies, including staff, volunteers, members, program participants, vendors, community leaders, etc.

ENVIRONMENTAL FACTORS, PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Physically able to successfully complete required job functions, including the use of hands, arms, fingers, able to talk and hear, use a computer, sit and stand, regularly move/lift up to 50 pounds, enter all YMCA environments (office spaces, indoor and outdoor maintenance/mechanical areas, fitness areas, pool and pool space, camping areas, unimproved outdoor locations and other program areas)
  • Must be able to stand or sit for long periods of time
  • Must be physically able to successfully complete all required certifications and trainings
  • Must be able to perform the jobs of the employees supervised
  • Must have ability to work inside and outside, i.e. humidity, hot, cold, inclement weather conditions
  • Must have ability to concentrate in a loud environment
Compensation/Benefits: 

Salary: $35,357.00 - $38,000.00
