Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Accountable for completion of assigned goals as measured by the number of people served, cause driven measures, service satisfaction scores, operating results, and supervisor evaluation of assigned duties.
  • Effect on End results:
  • Increase program participation by 5%
  • Meet and exceed revenue expectations
  • Identify and secure field space in Norfolk
  • Ensure effective and efficient camp protocol at off-site camps

Division of Duties:

  • 70% supervision and management of Youth and Adult Sports Programs
  • 20% association, family center meetings and/or leader on duty assignment
  • 10% leadership to Annual Giving and other special projects

Priorities:

  • Direct leadership of Sports Programs
  • Provides strong leadership and support for attaining association’s goals and objectives
  • Provides strong fiscal management in all areas of responsibility

Budget and Financial Performance

  • Develops and manages the budgets related to the position
  • Makes necessary purchases, inventories and deliveries of all program-related supplies in accordance with Association standards

Program Development and Membership Engagement

  • Provides safe, organized, and quality sports, camp, and programs that serve the Blocker Norfolk YMCA and the Y on Granby community needs
  • Plans, develops and implements sports programs
  • Creates opportunities for members to form small communities and build meaningful relationships
  • Provides leadership, plan and execute community-programming opportunities in the extended Norfolk community
  • Plans, markets and executes quality programs to serve more kids, teens, adults and families
  • Develops, produces and distributes program information necessary to promote assigned programs, in accordance with branch marketing plans
  • Ensures high quality programs through innovative program development, evaluations and ongoing training of staff
  • Expands current sports offerings with high quality programming in accordance with the Association Gold Book guidelines

Team Performance Towards Organizational Goals

  • Provides strong leadership and support for attaining Association’s goals and objectives of the strategic plan
  • Hires, trains, evaluates and supervises sports and Home School PE
  • Recruits and trains program volunteers
  • Provides leadership and support for branch management team, annual support campaign, and volunteer committees/boards as assigned
  • Performs the duties of direct reports as needed

Fundraising

  • Assists and fosters a strong annual support campaign
  • Participates in successful annual support campaign.Active leadership required in staff giving and membership involvement

Professional Development

  • Completes New Staff Orientation and trainings as required
  • Attends mandatory staff meetings and appropriate Department Cabinets
  • Incorporates the five-character values of the YMCA:Caring, Honesty, Respect, Responsibility, and Faith and promote the YMCA Mission
  • All other duties as assigned

Facility Management

  • Ensures upkeep of related facilities and equipment
  • Effectively coordinates facility usage for assigned programs and activities
Educational Background: 
A Bachelor’s Degree in Sports Management/ Recreation/Health Sciences is preferred
Skills/Experience: 
  • At least 21 years or older
  • 1 to 2 years supervisory experience
  • Must be able to attain CDL (commercial driver’s license) within 6 months of hire
  • Flexible Schedule, days, nights and weekends
  • Able to Obtain American Safety and Health Institute BLS instructor within 90 days of hire
  • Proficient computer skills with ability to learn new software programs

ENVIRONMENTAL FACTORS, PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Will be required to walk, stand, kneel, stoop, push, and lift up to 100 pounds
  • While performing duties the employee may occasionally work in the outside weather conditions, and is exposed to wet, cold and /or humid conditions
  • Continuous operations requiring attention to detail and multi-tasking
  • Will be exposed to cleaning supplies
  • Must be able to stand or sit for long periods of time
  • Must be physically able to successfully complete required certifications
Compensation/Benefits: 

Salary: $35,538.00 - $38,000.00
