Under the general direction of the Sussex County District Executive, the Branch Executive Director is responsible for the administration of all operations and safe implementation of all programs of the location. Major areas of responsibility include, but are not limited to, executive leadership and oversight of all staff, operations, including volunteer management, facility management, community and alumni relations, program development and quality control, financial development, marketing, board development, strategic planning, fiscal management and staff management. 

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Represent and promote the YMCA in the local community and develop positive working relationships with other organizations, businesses, and governmental entities. Develop, maintain, and model collaborative relationships with community agencies and constituents throughout the service delivery area.
  • Development and maintenance of effective branch board. Develop strategies to increase volunteer involvement at all levels.
  • Develop, manage and/or oversee the management of branch budget in order to meet or exceed budget targets. Initiate and/or oversee budget adjustments to ensure balanced operations.
  • Provide direction and leadership for financial development activities.
  • Continually review and evaluate key performance measures, enrollment, program service, and operation of the Branch.
  • Lead the development of corrective action plans and strategies as needed.
  • Support the implementation of association wide initiatives to attract, recruit, and retain members.
  • Oversee the hiring, training, development, and supervision of branch staff.
  • Ensure the safety and maintenance of high quality facilities, grounds, and equipment.
  • Create a member-focused culture and model relationship building skills in all interactions.
  • Foster a climate of innovation to develop member/participant focused programs with the focus on safety of all, which support the overall YMCA mission, goals, and strategies.
  • In alignment with the overall strategic plan, develop long and short-range plans for the expansion of programs and services.
  • Meet with and develop relationships with potential membership and/or program partners within service area.
  • Collaborate with marketing and communications team to develop marketing messages and resources to support the membership and program growth strategy.
  • Keep abreast of trends and issues in the community related to membership and program philosophy and strategies.
  • Ensure diversity and inclusion are embraced and incorporated into business practices.
  • Network to build contacts, collaborations, and fund-raising in the community.

  • Exhibit personal and professional behavior in a manner consistent with the best interests of the Association.
  • Perform other job-related duties as may be periodically assigned.
Educational Background: 
Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in human services, nonprofit management, business or social services; Master’s degree preferred.
Skills/Experience: 
  • YMCA Multi-Team or Branch Leader certificate is required or must be obtained within a limited period of time; Organizational Leader certificate is preferred.
  • Minimum 6+ years of progressive management experience in a camp Branch, preferably in a YMCA or other nonprofit agency showing sustained operational growth.
  • Demonstrated ability to produce positive results in key areas of branch management to include staff development, budgeting and fiscal management, risk management, participant recruitment and retention, board and volunteer development, financial development, and facility management/operations.
  • Strong business operations background with a proven track record for producing growth and strong financial performance.
  • Demonstrated commitment to the mission and purpose of the YMCA.
  • Ability to establish and maintain positive relationships within an organization and with the external community.
  • Proven communication skills, to include both written and verbal communications as well as demonstrated platform and public speaking ability.
  • Demonstrated ability to work harmoniously with staff, volunteers, members, funders, and members of the business community.
  • Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community.
Compensation/Benefits: 

Salary: $110,241.00
