Under the supervision of the Chief Operations Officer and in harmony with the mission and purpose of the established policies and goals of the YMCA, The First Tee Executive shall be responsible for the overall implementation and successful operation of the program.  The Executive will be responsive to the strategic goals of the Peninsula YMCA and develop positive relationships at local school and golf courses to insure program effectiveness and to build the reputation as a youth development program.

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Supports Vision and Establishes Direction:  promotes and represents the mission and core values of the YMCA; thinks strategically; plans for results; manages ambiguity; fosters and implements creativity and innovation; manages change; takes the long-term view.
    • Supports the mission, vision and goals of the YMCA and The First Tee. 
    • Responsible for translating YMCA and First Tee strategic priorities and initiatives into annual plan of action.
  • Builds Community Resources (Investment, Volunteers and Financial Development): builds community; tells The YMCA and First Tee story; builds leadership; embraces and demonstrates commitment to volunteerism; knows and practices effective stewardship / cultivation.
    • Coordinates the identification and development of the Board of Managers and committees.  
    • Participates in the cultivation and solicitation of corporations, individuals and foundations. 
    • Researches prospective and current donors.  Maintains appropriate contact and correspondence with donors and/or potential donors.
    • Maintains high ethical standards of financial stewardship and ensures that the YMCA stays in compliance with all laws, regulations and accounting standards as they relate to requesting and receiving charitable gifts.
    • Coordinates community guest tours of the program and invitations to special events. 
    • Promotes and participates in YMCA fundraising efforts such as United Way campaigns. 
    • Develops and maintains collaborative relationships with community businesses and organizations.
    • Works to expand the number of community collaborations and resources. 
    • Directs research and writing and preparation of grant proposals; manages and administers grants and completes reporting and grant evaluation requirements.
  • Creates and Maintains a Focus on Program Quality:  Puts people first and respects the individual; focuses on quality with set quality standards; responds to community needs; integrates services; builds relationships.
    • Ensures program accountability and evaluates outcomes. 
    • Promotes YMCA and First Tee core values.
    • Coordinates the development and management of branch programs. 
    • Communicates effectively with schools, golf courses and YMCA locations.  
  • Effectively Develops and Manages People:   leads effectively; advocates diversity; develops and recognizes people; engages in problem solving/manages conflicts; possesses organizational skills; 
    • Recruits, trains and builds strong staff and volunteer teams and ensures their success through an effective performance management/appraisal process.
    • Works effectively and amicably with local school systems, golf courses and YMCA locations
  • Effectively Develops and Manages Resources:  manages resources, maintains clean, orderly, quality office space, and equipment; 
    • Develops, manages and monitors annual budget, making revisions as necessary to meet or exceed budget guidelines.  Administers the program budget and accounts for all revenues and expenditures through the Association Support Center finance office according to sound financial procedures.
    • Conducts prudent stewardship of branch resources to maximize impact. Seeks donations or in-kind services whenever possible.
    • Coordinates management and maintenance of the office and equipment.

    • Prepares statistical, analytical and narrative reports regarding programs and operations of the branch as needed.
Educational Background: 
Bachelor’s degree in business, education, public administration, public relations, communications or related field required; equivalent work experience in development preferred; or equivalent experience in a related field.
Skills/Experience: 
  • Background must include strong skills in human relations, budgeting, sound fiscal management, financial development, program management, volunteer and staff development, committee and board relations.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Position requires considerable independent judgment to accomplish the goals of the program.
  • Ability to successfully prioritize, manage and balance multiple projects.
  • Demonstrate a positive approach to problem solving.
  • Certification in CPR/First Aid/AED/O2/CAP required within 60 days of hire.
  • Complete and maintain required trainings to include: New Employee Orientation (NEO), Bloodborne Pathogens, Child Abuse Prevention (CAP), and Sexual Harassment.
  • Satisfactory completion of a criminal background check and Child Protective Services check.
Compensation/Benefits: 

Salary: $52,868.00 - $66,085.00
