Responsible for the development, coordination, planning, administration, supervision and delivery of a high quality instructional and competitive youth sports program that is fully integrated into the LCFYMCA’s mission, and strategic and operating plans.
Manages a team of 20-50 staff. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws.Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, training and coaching employees; tracking certifications; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
Areas of Responsibility:
- Direct and supervise program activities to meet the needs of the community and fulfill YMCA objectives/standards.
- Hire, orient, train, develop, schedule and direct staff and volunteers. Review and evaluate staff performance. Develop strategies to motivate staff and achieve goals. Ensure records of staff certifications are current and complete.
- Review, approve and submit staff time cards to payroll per schedule. Manage time-off requests.
- Establish new program activities and expand program within the community in accordance with strategic and operating plans.
- Assist in the marketing and distribution of program information while adhering to the graphic standards related to the Y brand.
- Develop and monitor program budget to meet fiscal objectives.
- Compile program statistics. Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of and participation in program.
- Ensure the health, safety and well being of children in the program by providing close supervision of practices and games.
- Initiate, establish and maintain strong communication with volunteers and parents.
- Conduct coaches’ and officials’ clinics and trainings.
- Maintain crowd control.
- Monitor equipment for safety and purchase new equipment and materials utilizing purchase orders and check requests.
- Maintain accurate, complete and timely program records including but not limited to volunteer rosters, registration sheets, and accident/incident reports.
- Assist in YMCA fundraising activities and special events.
- Attend and actively participate in all staff meetings and trainings.
Educational Background:
Bachelor’s degree in Sports Management/Physical Education, two years of experience in sports programming or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
Skills/Experience:
- Highly effective communication (verbal and written), interpersonal and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently and flexibility to work evenings and weekends when needed.
- Demonstrated experience in budget and fiscal management.
- Ability to obtain First Aid, CPR, and AED certification within 60 days of hire and maintain certifications thereafter.
Compensation/Benefits:
Salary: $40,000.00
