Under the supervision of the Vice President of Finance or his/her designee, the Grant Accountant will be responsible for grant and contract billings, cash receipts, reporting, monitoring of receivables and record keeping. The individual will also assist in preparing journal entries, monthly financial statements, and maintaining grant compliance schedules. The position is required to be cross-trained to handle other areas of accounting including accounts payable. The Grant Accountant also functions as the organization’s system (CCC) liaison.
Areas of Responsibility:
- Process and prepare monthly invoices for Grants and Contracts, Emergency Housing, Children’s Crisis Center, youth development, and Camp Linwood.
- Prepare reconciliations of balance sheet accounts and grant income account to General Ledger.
- Maintain Grants and Contract database and electronic files.
- Prepare and maintain Grants and Contract Expenditure reports.
- Oversee and assist in the collections of all outstanding Accounts Receivables for the Association.
- Assist with reconciliation of all bank statements to the General Ledger.
- Receipt checks that are received into accounting system.
- Assist with journal entries and preparation of monthly financial packages.
- Work with department Supervisors to ensure all staff is set up/scheduled for appropriate CCC training.
- Serve as point of control with departmental Supervisors, monitoring and assessing CCC database usage.
- Ensure all platform modules are functioning properly; includes being the point person in all trouble shooting Communications with CCC.
- Ensure systems are in place to guarantee proper maintenance of all membership, youth program, financial development and accounting files.
- Assist in the budget process.
- Assist the VP Finance and Accounting Department staff as needed.
- Assist with audit schedules.
Educational Background:
BA degree in Accounting and five years of accounting experience.
Skills/Experience:
- Experience managing federal, state and city grants.
- Knowledge of Excel, Word, General Ledger, Accounts Payable and Payroll software packages. Knowledge of CCC a plus.
- Excellent organizational skills.
- Detailed oriented with precise/thorough work habits.
- Team player with excellent communication skills.
- Flexible to work outside regular work hours and adjust schedule for varying accounting deadlines.
Compensation/Benefits:
Salary: $45,000.00
