Somerset County YMCA is seeking a dynamic, highly motivated, experienced and proven cause-driven leader for a tremendous career opportunity to lead our largest branch, Somerset Hills YMCA, located in northern Somerset County. Somerset Hills YMCA changes lives through programs that include health and wellness, swim lessons, early childhood education, after-school care, youth enrichment, sports, summer day camp, special needs, swim team, and much more. The branch serves 18,000 members with an operating budget of $12.2 million and 37 full-time and approximately 380 part-time employees. The branch has a 89,000 square foot full-facility (soon to be expanded to 105,000 square feet)which includes a state-of-the-art fitness center, a separate beginner fitness center, two lap pools plus a recreational family pool, gymnasium, group exercise studios, an early education and child care center, teen center, child watch room, a café and more.
Under the direction of the COO, the Branch Executive Director is responsible for the day-to-day operations and programs of the Somerset Hills YMCA branch. This position provides cause-driven leadership in staff supervision, volunteer development, fiscal management, financial development, membership and program administration, facility and equipment stewardship, community relations and personal-professional development.
- Coordinates the development of the branch board and committees.
- Directs the financial development activities of the branch.
- Represents and promotes the YMCA in the local community and develops positive working relationships with other organizations, businesses, and governmental entities. Develops, maintains, and models collaborative relationships with community agencies in service delivery area.
- Oversees the hiring, training, development and supervision of staff.
- Develops, manages, and monitors the branch operating budget and meet or exceeds budget targets.
- Directs branch strategic planning efforts and develops the annual operating plan of the branch.
- Develops and directs high quality relationship-based member engagement strategies. Models relationship-building skills in all interactions with staff, volunteers, members, and the community.
- Fosters a climate of innovation to develop member-focused programs which support the Y mission, goals, and strategies.
- Ensures the safety and maintenance of high quality facilities, grounds, and equipment.
- Directs branch marketing and communication efforts to effectively communicate benefit to the community.
- Serves as a member of Y management and supports the overall objectives of the YMCA.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Six or more years of management experience overseeing multiple program areas, preferably in a YMCA or other nonprofit.
- Proven ability to direct total operations through volunteer development, supervision of staff, development and monitoring of branch budget, marketing and public relations, and program development.
- Experience in management and development of volunteer involvement; ability to recruit top community leaders.
- Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community.
- Proven track record of developing authentic relationships with others.
- Ability to establish and maintain collaborations with community organizations.
- YMCA Multi-Team or Branch Leader certification preferred.
Salary: $90,000.00 - $115,000.00
