Somerset County YMCA has a great career opportunity for a motivated aquatics professional to participate in the advancement of our dynamic Association.  We currently seek an Associate Aquatics Director to support the day-to-day operations of aquatics programming in our Somerset Hills, NJ branch.  Under the direction of the Aquatics Director, the Associate Aquatics Director helps to improve and develop quality programs.  S/he is responsible for the supervision, training/certification, skills assessment, hiring, scheduling, etc. of all Aquatics staff.  Ensure a safe environment by keeping pools and decks clean at all time.  Conducts swim evaluations, serves as Lifeguard and Swim Instructor when needed.  Evening and weekend hours required.

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Supports the day-to-day operations of aquatics programming
  • Supervision, training/certification, skills assessment, hiring, scheduling, etc. of all Aquatics staff
  • Ensures a safe environment by keeping pools and decks clean at all time
  • Conducts swim evaluations, serves as Lifeguard and Swim Instructor when needed
  • Evening and weekend hours required
Educational Background: 
Some supervisory experience is preferred along with a BS in Recreation, Physical Education, or a related field
Skills/Experience: 
  • A minimum of three (3) years of experience as a Lifeguard and/or Swim Instructor
  • Solid working knowledge of Microsoft Word/Excel
  • Strong administrative, communication and human relations skills required
  • Required certifications include:
  • American Red Cross or YMCA Lifeguard /CPR/AED/First Aid
  • Preferred certification: American Red Cross Lifeguard Instructor
  • Knowledge of the NJ Bathing Code a plus
  • Pool Operator/CPO Certification a plus
Compensation/Benefits: 

Competitive salary commensurate with experience, plus 12% retirement contribution and comprehensive health and wellness benefits.  

Salary: $40,000.00 - $45,000.00
