The Youth and Student Program Coordinator collaborates with the Youth and Student Program Manager to build, strengthen and support Amnesty International USA’s Youth and Student Program. The program provides young people with the opportunity to engage in human rights education, advocacy and organizing in their communities across the United States. The Youth and Student Program Coordinator is responsible for coordinating key projects within the program, providing support to existing chapters and youth leaders, developing systems and processes for data management and tracking, developing and implementing communication strategies, and carrying out outreach to youth audiences. They are further responsible for the annual registration process of AIUSA student and youth groups, identification of new opportunities for growth and scaling, and will increase mobilization around days of action and other youth organizing initiatives.
- Build and support key projects within the Youth and Student Program, including project management and evaluation
- Provide support to student chapters, including tracking and sending group materials, following up on group activity, and coordinating materials development and ordering
- Develop, implement and evaluate communication, retention and engagement strategies to engage AIUSA student chapters
- Provide organizing support to chapter coordinators and state-based student organizers
- Manage annual group registration and internal data processes
- Respond to all inquiries from various stakeholders, including students and educators
- Manage youth organizing initiatives, including National Week of Student Action
- Represent AIUSA with external partners, including work in coalitions and other outreach opportunities and other audiences
- 3-5 years’ experience with outreach, activism, organizing and/or program coordination; work on human rights or social justice preferred
- Exercises commitment to inclusion, diversity, equity, and accessibility
- Experience working with youth, including high school and college-aged
- Experience managing multiple concurrent projects to success
- Demonstrated ability to develop and implement systems or processes for a team
- Experience working with a database system and/or other data management tools
- Ability to analyze and present data with supporting recommendations
- Strong written communication ability; experience with email, newsletters, toolkits, promotional materials a plus
- Demonstrated ability to work across teams, departments and other structures to achieve goals
- Comfortable developing presentations and facilitating workshops
- Experience working with volunteers and/or within a membership-based organization
- Fluent in Microsoft Office and Google Suite applications
